How to eat the chicken hot pot and a sauce tip

At Golmok Naengmyeon 1966, you boil the chicken hot pot at the table for about 10 minutes as you eat! Once the broth starts boiling, fish out the vegetables first, then eat the richly cooked chicken with the mild broth, and finish properly with the kalguksu noodles and handmade dumplings -

The key to chicken hot pot is the dipping sauce you mix to your own taste! The kind owner shared a tip for eating it well: the soy sauce isn't salty, so fill your dish with plenty of it, add lots of chili powder seasoning, and dunk the chicken and vegetables in deep~ haha

The broth itself was already mild and excellent, but dipped in the special sauce the flavor feels even more complete. Even dunked deep, it wasn't harsh at all and went down smoothly.

The broth had that familiar, richly extracted chicken flavor. Clear, mild and not overpowering, so it felt clean.

Is it okay for eating with a child?

The chicken hot pot at Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 has a clear white broth, so you can feed it to a young child without worrying about spiciness. My child also happily polished off a bowl of rice mixed into it. Highly recommended as a family meal out with kids! Eating tender chicken together with bean sprouts, cabbage and more felt like a healthy meal.

Finishing with handmade dumplings and kalguksu

Once you've picked through a good amount of the chicken and vegetables, it's time to boil the handmade dumplings and the kalguksu noodles. Thanks to the kind owner who even topped up the broth for us in advance, we could cook them in plenty of broth that wasn't salty.

The dumplings, which the owner said are made by hand, were packed full with mild meat filling, and the chewy kalguksu noodles had soaked up the rich chicken broth, so I finished the meal very satisfied down to the last bite.

A tasty, warm, restorative kind of meal. The white broth makes it great for eating with a child, and I recommend Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu for lunch on Deuran-gil :)
