How I got to Bueokgan Restaurant near Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital

Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is a new Western restaurant in Oslo Park, the shopping mall near Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital. I had an errand at the hospital on a weekday, and since I'd heard a new restaurant had opened in nearby Oslo Park, I stopped by.

Bueokgan is on the Oslo Park main plaza side, so it wasn't hard to find, and you can just use the Oslo Park parking lot, which made the visit easy.

Walking over after parking, the exterior already looked different from your average Western restaurant, so I got a little excited.

What's the interior of Bueokgan Yangsan Oslo Park like?

The first thing I thought when I opened the door was, "Wow, this place is really pretty." It's exactly the kind of mood restaurant women love... right? 🤭

High ceilings that curve softly into arches, plants here and there, and vintage furniture all blended together. It felt like a European restaurant I'd stopped by on a trip abroad. It didn't feel like a typical franchise at all; you could tell real care went into the space itself.

Even the cutlery is Italian-made

The round tables are spread out generously, so it never feels cramped, and with natural light coming through the windows it's really great for taking photos too.

Even while I was snapping a few photos, my eyes kept wandering around the room. Honestly, if I could get this mood near home, I think I'd come for a meal often, not just on special days.

Bueokgan menu and how to order

You order on the tablet set at each table. You don't have to keep calling a staff member, and you can browse the menu at your own pace, which was convenient.

The menu covers salads and sides, pasta, rice dishes, and steak and pizza.

There's a good range of alcohol too, and they offer a corkage service so you can bring your own wine, just so you know!

Is the grapefruit ade at Bueokgan very sweet?

The grapefruit ade has whole grapefruit pulp in it, so the grapefruit flavor was stronger than the syrup. After we ordered, the drinks came out first, and sipping the grapefruit ade and Coke Zero while waiting for the food felt oddly relaxed. Like sitting in a brunch café, hehe.

Grapefruit ade is often too sweet or tastes mostly of syrup, but here the whole pulp gave it a nice chew and a strong aroma. It wasn't just sweet; the bittersweet, fresh grapefruit taste came through, so it felt quite upscale. Coke Zero needs no explanation, but with the cream pasta it cleansed the palate nicely.

How was the carbonara topped with a poached egg?

Bueokgan's carbonara comes with a poached egg on top of the cream sauce, with plenty of bacon and button mushrooms. The mains arrived one after another a little later, and the carbonara, which came first, looked really appetizing.

A poached egg sits on the cream sauce and it made my mouth water just looking at it. When I broke it open and mixed the yolk into the cream sauce, the flavor became much smoother and richer.

There was plenty of bacon and mushroom, and the noodles were cooked just right.

The cream wasn't too heavy, so I could finish it without feeling overwhelmed, and the salty bacon and the aroma of the mushrooms went well together.

Just one poached egg made the depth of flavor come alive, so I was personally really happy with this dish.

Is Bueokgan's lasagna ragu-style?

Bueokgan's lasagna has a tomato base, but it's packed with minced meat like a ragu, so the flavor was rich and deep. The lasagna came out next, with cheese piled on without holding back and a deep-looking tomato sauce, so I was super excited just seeing it!!

The meat flavor came through clearly, so I liked it more with every bite, and the tomato acidity was moderate, not harsh. Cheese, meat and tomato sauce were well balanced, so I think anyone who likes lasagna will be satisfied! Plus, cheese, meat and tomato just feels kind of healthy, doesn't it? That made me even happier haha 🤭

As I ate, I started to understand a little why people say Bueokgan has steady-seller dishes. Each dish felt less flashy and more about getting the basics right, and my impression was that they bring out the natural flavor of the ingredients.

Is Bueokgan good for kids and family meals?

Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is spacious with plenty of room to move around, so it's comfortable even with kids, and there are high chairs. I never expected to find a European-style restaurant like this in Yangsan, and the atmosphere was much better than I thought, so I think I'll remember it for a long time. It's comfortable for a family meal too haha
