Namyangju outdoor BBQ, indoor table after an hour's wait: 2002 Witch's

In short

2002 Witch's Arpeggio is an outdoor Korean BBQ restaurant near Myojeok Valley in Wabu-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi. On a weekend afternoon the writer waited about an hour, took an indoor table, and ordered Witch's Jar Cheese Tomato Pork Belly at the mildest of three spice levels with Witch's crispy-outside, soft-inside potato pancake. Outdoor seats had an even longer wait, but the indoor tables at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio were clean and the meal was more than satisfying.

Today's post is about Namyangju's outdoor BBQ spot, 2002 Witch's Arpeggio!

I'd been searching for a good BBQ place in Namyangju and kept hearing how famous Arpeggio was, so I finally went!

2002 Witch's Arpeggio

How long is the weekend wait at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio near Myojeok Valley?

2002 Witch's Arpeggio is an outdoor BBQ restaurant near Myojeok Valley in Wabu-eup, Namyangju. Visiting on a weekend, I got a waiting number and waited almost an hour, ugh.

It's peak valley season right now, and with Myojeok Valley nearby, there were just so many people!

Arpeggio has both indoor and outdoor seating, and since the outdoor atmosphere is nicer, the outdoor wait was even longer. The restrooms were well signposted too, so that was convenient.

It's such a famous spot for Namyangju food that I'd heard there'd be a wait on weekends, and sure enough there were tons of people when we arrived. We got our number and waited almost an hour, ugh.

Still, it wasn't just standing around outside — there was a space to sit and rest while waiting. Since the wait dragged on, we popped over to the café right next door, which would actually be a nice way to spend time if you're on a Namyangju date.

Indoor tables, tablet ordering and the self-serve side dish corner

Since the outdoor wait was longer, we went in for indoor seats at Arpeggio. Orders were placed via tablet PC at the table, and side dishes could be taken freely from a self-serve corner.

At first I wanted to eat outside, but since we'd already waited quite a while, we went with indoor seats instead. Still, the indoor space was clean and comfortable, great for a nice meal ^^

We finally sat down and ordered, and there was a guide showing the best order to eat the tomato-sauce pork belly, so I tried following it.

Ordering was easy through the tablet PC at the table. No need to flag down staff — you could just browse the menu and order, which was convenient.

Self-serve corner for side dishes and wraps

If side dishes ran low, you could grab as much as you wanted from the self-serve corner. When eating BBQ, you often run out of wraps or sides, so this was really handy ^^

Since we'd driven, we sadly skipped the alcohol and ordered Fanta instead. A cold beer with pork belly would've been great, but since I had to drive, I went with cold Fanta instead haha.

Witch's Jar Cheese Tomato Pork Belly: what does the mildest level taste like?

We ordered Arpeggio's signature dish, Witch's Jar Cheese Tomato Pork Belly. I picked the mildest of three spice levels, which let the flavor of the tomato sauce itself come through more clearly.

The dish we ordered was Witch's Jar Cheese Tomato Pork Belly! The japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) and acorn crepes on the side were perfect too >< And the tomato salad? That was ridiculously good!

Tomato salad and side dish plates

As the signature dish of this Namyangju outdoor BBQ spot, it's pork belly aged in tomato sauce plus cheese! I was so curious just from the name haha.

Usually when you hear 'seasoned pork belly,' you think of gochujang (red chili paste) marinade!? But the standout thing here is that they use tomato sauce instead of gochujang ><

With the savory depth of the tomato sauce added, the pork belly had a distinctly different charm from the usual gochujang version. It wasn't heavy or cloying — it had a mellow umami and a tangy-sweet flavor that kept me reaching for more haha.

The spice level can be adjusted across three tiers, and we went with the mildest. I can't handle spicy food well, so I picked the gentlest option, and it let me really taste the tomato sauce itself. I think it'd be great for anyone who wants something non-spicy, or for families visiting with kids ^^

And with the cheese added, that extra savoriness really brought the dish to life — I could see why this menu item is so famous. The pork belly itself was tasty, but combined with the sauce and cheese, it felt like a completely different experience from regular pork belly. Thanks to the tomato sauce's distinct umami, I kept going back for more, so the wait was worth it haha.

Ahh!! The cheese is the best ><

Having the staff help grill it made it taste even better haha.

Isn't that cheese seriously piled on?!

The portions at this famous Namyangju outdoor BBQ spot were seriously generous and delicious haha.

Acorn crepe wraps and Witch's crispy-outside, soft-inside potato pancake

At Arpeggio, my favorite combo was wrapping the tomato pork belly in acorn crepes. We also ordered Witch's Crispy-Chewy Potato Pancake, and I'm really glad we did.

Arpeggio is fun not just for the meat itself, but for all the different combinations you can try!

Wrapping pork belly in an acorn crepe

Wrapping the pork belly in the acorn crepes that came with it was really good, and it was also tasty with lettuce and pickled radish. The chewy texture of the acorn crepe paired surprisingly well with the tomato pork belly. The meat alone was already good, but wrapping it made each bite more filling and even better. If you visit, I'd really recommend trying this combo!

And the other dish we ordered alongside the meat was Witch's Crispy-Chewy Potato Pancake! True to its name, it was crispy outside and moist, chewy inside. I worried eating a potato pancake on top of pork belly might be too much, but I'm really glad we ordered it. The outside was fried crispy while the inside kept the potato's chewy, soft texture — I kept reaching for more, and it paired nicely with the rich tomato pork belly as a savory break in between ^^

Is 2002 Witch's Arpeggio worth the trip to a Namyangju valley BBQ?

2002 Witch's Arpeggio is worth recommending if you're heading out to a Namyangju valley and want something different from regular pork belly. The weekend wait was about an hour, but the waiting room, the café next door, and the 2nd floor lounge made the wait less tedious.

Searching for Namyangju restaurants, I kept seeing Arpeggio come up, and after visiting, I get why. In particular, using tomato sauce instead of the usual gochujang made the pork belly really special. The umami of the tomato sauce, the pork belly, and the savory cheese on top made for a genuinely different BBQ experience haha.

We waited almost an hour, but we passed the time resting in the waiting room and stopping by the café next door. Outdoor seats needed an even longer wait, but we ate comfortably indoors! The food was great even eaten indoors, so it was fully satisfying, and there was also a 2nd floor lounge that was nice to rest in before or after the meal.

I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a good restaurant near a Namyangju valley, a nice-atmosphere outdoor BBQ spot, or just something different from regular pork belly! From the special tomato pork belly to the savory cheese, the fun of wrapping it in acorn crepes, and the crispy-chewy potato pancake — every bit of it was satisfying ^^ If you're looking for a different kind of BBQ place in Namyangju, or want a good meal near the valley, I'd recommend giving this place a try!
