Sejong restaurant with a Saturday lunch wait: pumpkin gnocchi, Olivus

In short

Olivus Compagno Sejong Boram Branch is a Western restaurant with a European feel on Sicheong-daero in Boram-dong, Sejong. After falling for the sweet pumpkin gnocchi at the Olivus in Eojin-dong, the writer booked a Saturday lunch at the Boram branch and ordered sweet pumpkin gnocchi, spicy aglio olio with an extra baguette, and gorgonzola pizza. The sweet pumpkin gnocchi at Olivus Boram tasted just like the Eojin-dong original, but weekend lunches have a wait, so book ahead.

Does Olivus Boram's sweet pumpkin gnocchi taste like the Eojin-dong original?

The sweet pumpkin gnocchi at Olivus Compagno Sejong Boram Branch tasted exactly like the one at the Eojin-dong Olivus. If you ask me for a Western restaurant with a good atmosphere in Sejong, Olivus is now the first name out of my mouth, no hesitation. I fell in love with the pumpkin gnocchi at the Eojin-dong branch, and when I heard a new one had opened in Boram-dong, I went right away.

Conclusion first... they brought the same taste over. Another success. Here's my review of the Olivus Boram branch.

Is parking easy at Olivus Compagno Boram?

The parking lot at Olivus Compagno Sejong Boram Branch is really big, so it was convenient. No stress about driving there, and after your meal you just need to register your parking before you leave. Don't forget!

The exterior has real charm. It has the same cherry-toned look as the Eojin-dong Olivus, so I spotted it from far away: "Ah, this is the place!" It's a good spot for photos, too.

Atmosphere and seating at Olivus Compagno Boram

I'd made a reservation, and the tableware was already set out for us, which felt great. The table was tidy and the sauces were neatly prepared.

The inside is quite spacious, with an interior that strongly feels like a European restaurant. The lighting and mood are lovely, so it looked good for a date and fine for a family meal too.

Spicy aglio olio: is the extra baguette worth adding?

I recommend ordering the Olivus aglio olio spicy and adding the baguette. The aglio olio came out first. The amount of garlic, whoa... Plenty of arugula and generous tomatoes too. Since I ordered it spicy, it wasn't greasy at all and I could enjoy it to the end. The extra baguette was a stroke of genius. Crispy outside, moist inside, and dunked in the oil sauce it just keeps going down.

This combo is a must. When you eat aglio olio, add the baguette. You'll end up wiping up every last bit of sauce.

Gorgonzola pizza with honey at Olivus

The gorgonzola pizza at the Olivus Boram branch comes with honey. And here comes the gorgonzola pizza. It passes on looks alone. The cheese smell was rich and the dough was chewy, better than I expected.

They gave us honey too, so I had a sweet slice. Salty cheese with honey never fails, no matter when you eat it.

Why the sweet pumpkin gnocchi is a must-order at Olivus

The sweet pumpkin gnocchi at Olivus Compagno Sejong Boram Branch was exactly the taste I fell for in Eojin-dong. And here's the sweet pumpkin gnocchi I'd been waiting for most. Soft gnocchi, sweet pumpkin, nutty cream sauce. When you come to Olivus, you really have to order this.

Pizza and gnocchi spread out together. Happy just looking at it. The food almost went cold while I took photos. One more shot of the gnocchi.

The gorgonzola pizza is topped with truly generous cheese. Even one slice is very satisfying.

The aglio olio sauce was really good too. The garlic aroma comes through strongly, and the spiciness on top keeps your hand going back.

One bite of the sweet pumpkin gnocchi. Living up to its reputation. The chewy texture is so good and the cream sauce goes really well with the pumpkin.

The highlight is dunking the baguette into the leftover aglio olio sauce. You lose out if you leave without doing this.

Cleared perfectly again today. Empty plates are the proof of a good restaurant.

Is there a wait for weekend lunch at Olivus Compagno Boram?

At Saturday lunchtime, the Olivus Boram branch had a wait even though the space is big. After eating, I understood right away why it's so popular. I recommend making a reservation.

Overall it's clean with a nice atmosphere, and suits dates, family meals and get-togethers with friends alike.

Exterior of the Olivus Boram branch seen again before heading home

I admired the exterior once more before heading home. If you liked the Eojin-dong Olivus, you can trust the Boram-dong one too. Personally, the sweet pumpkin gnocchi is still my number one pick. I'll order it again next time without a second thought.
