I'd had my eye on this place for a while while searching for a wedding invitation gathering spot in Gangnam. Moa Gangnam, a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station, kept popping up. The reviews were so good I'd been curious about it for ages, but booking turned out to be trickier than I expected. Weekends especially get flooded with reservations for wedding invitation meetups, so I booked mine a few weeks ahead too.

So on a Sunday at 1pm, three of us went to check it out in person. What's so great that reservations are this hard to get...? I walked in still wondering, and honestly, the moment I stepped inside I started to get it.

Down an alley near Gangnam Station, with a wait even at 1pm on Sunday

When you say "near Gangnam Station" people usually picture crowds and chaos, but Moa Gangnam sits down an alley and felt quieter than I expected. That said, there was still a decent wait even at 1pm on a Sunday.

Warm wood interior that suits wedding-invitation gatherings

Fully packed interior of Moa Gangnam

I was really glad I'd booked ahead — walking inside, it was so packed you could barely find an empty seat. And everywhere I looked, people were exchanging wedding invitations. Practically every table seemed to be having some kind of wedding invitation gathering.

The interior was done up in warm wood tones, giving the whole space a relaxed feel. It's an open kitchen, so you can see the cooking happening, and there were plenty of seats. More than anything, the vibe wasn't stiff or overly formal — it was comfortable while the food still felt properly done, which explained why so many people choose it for wedding invitation gatherings, dates, or family meals.

What is on the menu at Moa Gangnam

Moa Gangnam's menu of noodles, rice, and meat dishes

Since it's a fusion Korean restaurant, the menu covers noodles, rice, and meat dishes — plenty of variety!

The side dishes

Pickled radish and jalapeños come out as the basic side dishes!

Barley doenjang arancini, 15,800 won

A plate of Moa Gangnam's barley doenjang arancini

This is bulgogi risotto shaped into balls, deep-fried until crisp, and served with barley doenjang (fermented soybean paste).

The outside was crispy while the rice inside stayed a bit chewy — a fun texture contrast.

Arancini served with doenjang and baby greens

Eaten together with the doenjang underneath, the baby greens, and the fried rice paper, the flavors came together nicely without being too heavy.

Gondre cream sujebi (hand-torn noodle soup), 14,800 won

Chewy cream sujebi with a perilla aroma

This is a Korean-style cream sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) with sautéed gondre (dried thistle greens) and a perilla aroma, and the dough was seriously chewy. With onion, mushroom, shrimp, perilla powder, parmesan cheese and pepperoncino all in the mix, it was nutty and surprisingly rich in flavor. Gondre can taste like this?! Such a surprising dish!

Spicy flounder buckwheat noodles, 16,800 won

Chewy flounder and buckwheat noodles come in a tangy-spicy sauce like mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), along with cabbage, onion, cucumber, and perilla leaf — somewhere between mulhoe and naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). A refreshing, zesty dish, great for summer.

Arugula cheese potato pancake, 16,900 won

Moa Gangnam's arugula cheese potato pancake

My personal favorite of the day, hands down! The arugula cheese potato pancake!!! Shredded potato fried crisp, topped with pepperoni, arugula, and cheese.

The shredded potato was fried perfectly crisp, and as the cheese melted it brought out this nutty flavor — drizzling on the honey that came alongside made for a legendary sweet-salty combo! The slight bitterness and freshness of the arugula added to it too, almost like a pizza... anyway, my top pick!

Spicy tomato hanwoo tteokgalbi (grilled beef patty), 19,900 won

A thick, sweet-and-spicy tomato sauce loaded with cheese, with hanwoo (Korean beef) tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) and a poached egg tucked inside.

It felt a bit like egg-in-hell, but with the tteokgalbi added it was way more filling.

Loading the crispy toasted baguette with the sauce and tteokgalbi was pretty delicious too.

Vongole kalguksu (clam knife-cut noodles), 14,800 won

Exactly as the name says: vongole made with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) instead of the usual pasta!

Rich clam broth of the vongole kalguksu

Loaded with clams and a deep, briny broth, it was refreshing and had a richness quite different from a regular vongole.

Is Moa Gangnam worth it for a Korean meal near Gangnam Station?

We tried six dishes total that day, and what made every one of them fun was that none of the familiar ingredients showed up in an ordinary way! Doenjang paired with arancini, gondre turned into cream sujebi, cheese and arugula piled onto potato pancake, vongole reimagined as kalguksu.

So it wasn't just a meal to fill up on — it was genuinely entertaining, thinking "how did they come up with this combination!!" the whole time. Having been there myself, I completely get why the reviews are so good and why it's such a popular spot near Gangnam Station for wedding invitation gatherings!!

Since weekend reservations for these gatherings fill up fast, I'd definitely recommend booking ahead if you're planning to visit. If you're after a slightly different take on Korean food in Gangnam, or a spot that nails both atmosphere and food for a wedding invitation meetup, I highly recommend it! I'll definitely be back!
