Fall hits and suddenly my bright hair looks so messy, haha. It's been about 6 months since my last dye job, and I've been trying to give my hair a break from chemical treatments while growing it out. But my level had gotten pretty high and the brassiness was really showing, so this time I decided to change things up completely. Fall cool black tone-down!

Last weekend I went to Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch, a hair salon near Gangnam Station, for their Re-Born color, aka ribbon color. Bottom line: I loved the color, and above all I was happy that my hair felt soft right after dyeing ♥

Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch is a hair salon near Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. I went on a weekend and... it was really packed, hahaha. Being located at Gangnam Station, there were plenty of foreign customers alongside Korean ones too. I expected it to be busy since it was a weekend, but seeing customers keep streaming in made me think — this must be a hair salon everyone raves about... haha.

I got my Re-Born color done by junior stylist Yeonjae this time.

Since my last dye job was about 6 months ago, the brassiness had really come through. So this time I wanted to firmly suppress the yellow tones while lowering my overall hair level. Rather than immediately demanding a specific color, we first talked about my current hair color and what shades usually suit me, and it was nice that we were on the same page from the start. So this time around, I decided on cool black without hesitation ♥

Re-Born color price at Park Jun Beauty Lab and what it includes

The Re-Born color I got, including the chest-length surcharge, came to ₩200,000 total. Personally, given that this is a hair salon near Gangnam Station, I didn't think it was that expensive — it included several steps of hair care along with the coloring.

What I got was the Re-Born color that Park Jun Beauty Lab offers as a repair coloring program. It's essentially regular coloring combined with a hair conditioning stage.

Before the treatment they use a scalp and hair protectant, and for the color stage they use Shiseido hair dye together with Ayoonche's Bond Pro color ampoule, as explained to me. Then it finishes with Shiseido Luminoforce color shampoo → Luminoforce treatment → Brilliance oil, in that order. The salon described the core of Re-Born color as minimizing damage, vivid and long-lasting color, shine and softness, and scalp/hair care.

The care you can feel while the color processes

The actual process of Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch's Re-Born color wasn't hugely different from regular coloring. Consultation, deciding the color, applying the dye, shampoo and care, then blow-drying. The whole thing took about 2 hours.

But one thing that felt different from a regular dye job: maybe because several care products were used alongside the color, my hair felt less stiff even during the coloring process itself!

I think it sat there processing naturally for about 20 minutes.

Then off to the shampoo room! They shampooed with Shiseido Luminoforce color shampoo to keep as much color from fading as possible, then followed with a treatment.

I really felt the difference especially when washing and drying my hair. Right after coloring, hair often feels dry or the ends get tangled, but this time as I dried it and touched it... oh? My hair is super moist? haha.

It's not that shine dramatically appeared out of nowhere, but for me, the fact that it felt softer and more moist to the touch than before dyeing was the most satisfying part. Of course this is just my personal experience with my own hair, and results will probably vary depending on your hair condition :)

The cool black result after the Re-Born color

Cool black that completely covered the brassiness ♥ What I wanted wasn't just plain jet black — I wanted a cool black that suppressed the yellow tones while catching a slight blue tint in the light. The result was exactly the direction I wanted! Indoors it looks calm and deep black overall, but under light you can subtly see the blue tone, so it doesn't feel like heavy, stifling black hair. Best of all, once the existing brassiness was neatly covered, my overall look felt way more polished.

What to know before a tone-down color

If you're planning to tone down to a dark color, know this first: it bleeds color in the beginning, haha. And here's a tip from personal experience... don't wear a light-colored top and go work out right after dyeing! If sweaty, wet hair touches your clothes, the color can transfer.

I didn't expect it, but Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch has a photo sticker machine. Judging by how used it looked, plenty of customers have already tried it out, haha. Since it's free to use, I took a shot too before leaving :)

After a 6-month break from dyeing, I got a fall tone-down color for the first time in a while. I wanted to fix my brassy roots, so I got a cool black Re-Born color from junior stylist Yeonjae at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch, and the result turned out exactly the way I wanted. Re-Born color! Having tried it myself, what I loved most was that right after dyeing, my hair felt soft and moist rather than stiff or dry.
