If you're at Gwangju Songjeong Station, Songjeong Market right next door is too good to skip. I went straight to the flagship store of Ssukseu Choco Pie, a dessert brand that started here in Gwangju!

I'd tried Ssukseu Choco Pie Seoul before and remembered it well, so once I learned the flagship store was in Gwangju, I had to stop by since I was already in town! Knowing the original shop is inside Songjeong Market, I got off at Songjeong Station and wandered through the market to find it.

The Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort flavor is basically the classic choco pie with cream and a touch of mugwort — true to the basics. It really wasn't too sweet, which is why my parents liked it even more. My dad had two.
