Grilled fish brunch in west Suwon at Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda's 10:40 am opening
Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch (고등어명품이되다 수원점) is a grilled fish place on Seobu-ro in west Suwon, and I went for brunch right at opening, 10:40 am. I was craving a Korean meal with rice and lots of side dishes, and while searching for Korean restaurants in Suwon I remembered this fish place I'd passed in west Suwon. I'd had my eye on it every time I drove by, so I really wanted to go. And I finally had brunch there!

Since it opens at 10:40, I skipped breakfast, timed it exactly, and showed up with an empty, rumbling stomach.

You can tell how popular it is the moment you walk in. The waiting area is huge, and you can check the Catchtable waitlist status there. I did the opening rush, so I got in right away with no wait.
It's a very big Korean restaurant you can spot from the road. Go once and you'll absolutely want to come back. I've been planning a second visit ever since! The place is spacious and there's still a wait at lunchtime, so you can imagine how good it is!

Brunch for two: grilled cutlassfish 19,000 won and grilled mackerel 16,000 won
We were two people and ordered the grilled cutlassfish (₩19,000) and the grilled mackerel (₩16,000), and we got an abalone sashimi as a service for writing a Naver receipt review. The menu has lots of other things too, like mackerel sashimi, mackerel sushi and braised fish. It's a specialist in grilled fish and mackerel.

The basic sides arrive! Just looking at the rice and seaweed soup, you can tell this place means business.

Free abalone sashimi for a Naver receipt review
If you write a receipt review, Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda gives you abalone sashimi as a service, one whole abalone! You get to try fresh abalone sashimi on the house.

Wood-fired grilled fish spread and self-bar side dishes
The grilled fish spread comes fresh off the wood-fired oven, and it felt like getting a birthday table at home. Doesn't that fish straight from the oven look delicious! It's an open kitchen, so we could even watch the fish being grilled.

All the side dishes are at the self-bar, so you can help yourself easily. Truly homestyle side dishes and grilled fish, a Korean meal anyone would enjoy. It's a Suwon Korean restaurant to visit when you want to eat like you're at home.

The seaweed soup and sungnyung are at the self-bar too, so you can have as much as you like. What if every single side dish suits my taste...? That's a binge, right? Though everything does come out as part of the basic set.
How big and how good is the grilled cutlassfish?
The grilled cutlassfish is so big that next to a spoon the size really hits you. Is this grilled fish size for real..? See how big it is? The flesh was so generous you could scoop the cutlassfish up with a spoon.

No fishy taste at all, and the cutlassfish was fluffy! It's been a while since I had such a big grilled cutlassfish, and it was so good. Piling a big piece on white rice felt like a table fit for a king!
Savory, rich grilled mackerel
The grilled mackerel was big too, with generous flesh, and the savory, rich flavor was so good that I want grilled fish even now, while writing this!! Certified Suwon grilled fish spot, bang bang bang.

Dessert: sikhye, sungnyung and coffee
Dessert is fully covered too: you can pick sikhye (sweet rice drink), sungnyung or coffee. Have them all! A Korean meal is all about a generous table of many side dishes with a main dish, right? It was also a great Suwon grilled fish restaurant for gatherings or family outings.

When I'm craving homestyle food or don't feel like cooking, I hunt around for Korean restaurants in Suwon, and Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda is a place I'll definitely come back to!
