Suwon pizza at weekend opening: loaded 4-flavor pie, Backstreet Pizza
In short
Backstreet Pizza is an American-style pizza restaurant on the second floor of an alley at the entrance to Haenggung-dong in Suwon, opened after its Seoul branches in Ikseon-dong and Yeonnam-dong. Arriving at weekend opening time, the writer ordered the Quarter Street Small with four flavors on one pie (33,000 won) and 5 cheese balls (6,000 won); toppings like shrimp and french fries were loaded right to the edge, but the pizza took 40–50 minutes to come out. If you want a bold, generously topped pizza in several flavors, Backstreet Pizza in Haenggung-dong is worth visiting right at opening.

I stopped by this pizza place on an outing in Haenggung-dong, Suwon! It's Backstreet Pizza, which has expanded from Ikseon-dong and Yeonnam-dong in Seoul to Haenggung-dong, and it's a legit good one 💜
Where is Backstreet Pizza in Haenggung-dong, and what's the vibe?

Backstreet Pizza is on the second floor of a building in the alley at the entrance of Haenggung-dong, Suwon. It's not hard to find with a map, and even though it's on the 2nd floor it's easy to spot, haha.

The inside is styled to capture that American backstreet feel. It's definitely exotic, but with a hip vibe too. I came right at weekend opening time, so I skipped the wait~! But the seats fill up fast, and the cooking time is long, so it's best to do an opening run.

What's in the self-service zone at Backstreet Pizza?
At the very back of Backstreet Pizza there's a self zone. Water, hot sauce, parmesan cheese, wet wipes... everything you need for pizza except pickles. The amounts are generous, so you can put one bottle on every table without worry.
Backstreet Pizza menu: how to try several flavors on one pie

If you want several flavors at Backstreet Pizza, pick the Half & Half or the Quarter Street, which has 4 fixed flavors. These aren't ordinary pizzas: loaded with toppings, loaded with sauce, loaded with everything. Total American pizza! From the signature Arugula Flower Pizza to Mushroom Bang, Cheddar Cheese, Pepperoni and Shrimp, the names alone sound delicious and dopamine-packed.
With this many choices, eating just one flavor feels like a waste... So, for people like that: the Half & Half and Quarter Street. Half & Half is literally half and half, and you choose the flavors yourself, while Quarter Street is fixed to 4 popular flavors.
- Shrimp Gangster
- Cheese & Patty Bomb
- Potato Killer
- Pepperoni Shotgun
How did the Quarter Street Small and cheese balls taste?

Even the tableware at Backstreet Pizza in Haenggung-dong, Suwon has a street feel, haha

What I ordered: the Quarter Street Small and 5 cheese balls.

Cheese balls, 5 pieces (6,000 won)
The cheese balls at Backstreet Pizza are ₩6,000 for 5. I wanted the fried shrimp but it couldn't be ordered, so I picked the cheese balls instead. They don't taste like the cheese balls at a fried chicken place, but the dough is a bit like handmade market doughnut dough, which gave them a different charm.

The dough is slightly sweet, so it's a bit like bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry). Definitely a mildly bland flavor that goes with pizza better than with chicken!

Quarter Street Small (33,000 won, 8 slices)
The Quarter Street Small is ₩33,000 and is Backstreet Pizza's signature item. Four flavors on one pie is a perfect setup. What I especially liked is that even the small size is a fixed 8 slices! It's small in size only, with toppings and sauce loaded on, so I love that I can try a variety 😋

Shrimp Gangster: a shrimp thug, just like the name, hahaha. On this small slice (though it's not that small) I was amazed how many big shrimp are piled on... so many that they fall off as you eat.
Potato Killer: another name that fits perfectly... It's piled with fries. Did I order fries or pizza? But I get both, so it's a win 🤤

Pepperoni Shotgun: now that I look, all the names are intense, hahaha. Maybe it means an aggressive amount of toppings. Cheese generously between the toppings too. There's almost no bare crust edge, the toppings go all the way to the very end, and I love that ㅠ

Cheese & Patty Bomb: lots of different cheeses besides the basic pizza cheese. You see appetizing tomato and pickles, but once you bite in it turns out to have bulgogi (marinated beef). There's a faint fire-grilled flavor too, a safe, easy pick as the base flavor.

How much shrimp is on the Shrimp Gangster?
The Shrimp Gangster has so much shrimp that it falls off a single slice. Can you see the shrimp falling off...hahaha How much do they put on one slice?! Not one bite is without shrimp. Shrimp lovers will be happy 🤤

Such plump shrimp, big enough that I wondered if they were black tiger shrimp! The chew is definite, so next time I want to try it as a standalone dish. The flavor is slightly spicy and punchy, so I think it would go well with beer.

With the Potato Killer I couldn't tell if it was fries, cheese fries or pizza... but I love toppings this generous 🤤 You know carbs plus carbs is always delicious. Phew, I've decided. Next time it's a Half & Half of Potato and Shrimp.
What fell short at Backstreet Pizza?
What disappointed me at Backstreet Pizza was that there were no pickles and that the pizza took 40-50 minutes to come out. Maybe because it was opening time, the pickles... weren't ready. Pizza gets heavy as you eat, so I couldn't eat much. But takeout is possible~ so I boxed up the rest and went home. Also, maybe because there are so many pizza types, it takes a while to come out... I waited 40-50 minutes, a bit of a letdown.
Verdict: who is Backstreet Pizza in Haenggung-dong, Suwon for?

- A place to enjoy 2-flavor and 4-flavor pizzas at once
- Hearty American-style pizza with generous toppings and cheese
- Distinctive signature items like Shrimp Gangster and Potato Killer
- Hip American backstreet-style interior
- Takeout available, so leftover pizza is no worry
Backstreet Pizza offers a different kind of pizza in Haenggung-dong. The toppings are piled on so generously that even one slice is very satisfying! If you want a punchy, dopamine-popping pizza, I recommend Backstreet Pizza in Haenggung-dong, Suwon ✨
