Solo-friendly gamjatang restaurant in Yangjae, Seoul: Chomu Gamjatang

Where is Chomu Gamjatang in Yangjae?

Chomu Gamjatang is a gamjatang (pork bone and potato stew) restaurant located at 59 Nonhyeon-ro, 1st floor, Seocho-gu, Seoul, 933 meters from Exit 2 of Yangjae Citizen's Forest Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with last order at 21:30.

This place feels way too fancy for a neighborhood gamjatang spot! It's the perfect place to eat after a walk along Yangjaecheon stream :)

Parking was easy, and even though it was 11am on a weekday, there were already tons of customers. The restaurant itself is really pretty haha.

A Yangjae favorite, a Seocho-gu favorite — Chomu Gamjatang. Great that you can park right out front too.

A dining room that works for solo diners and groups

The dining hall at Chomu Gamjatang is spacious and open, so there are plenty of group diners as well as solo diners eating alone. The staff are super friendly and the place is extremely clean and hygienic!

With the rain falling too, it was such perfect weather for gamjatang haha. There aren't many good Korean restaurants near Yangjaecheon, so I'm really happy to have found a new favorite. I think I'll be coming here for Korean food and gamjatang in Yangjae-dong from now on!

There's a wide variety of menu items, and I noticed a lot of people ordering the pork cutlet too haha. I should try the cutlet myself next time. Everyone seemed to be eating a ton of it — makes me curious haha. Apparently it's already famous as a great pork cutlet spot too haha.

It's clean and spacious, so there are a lot of group customers too. Guess a good restaurant really is a good restaurant haha.

What's on the self-serve bar: kimchi and sides

I loved how clean the self-serve bar was at Chomu Gamjatang!! The kimchi was also really delicious, clean-tasting, and fresh :)

A Yangjae favorite, a Seocho-gu favorite — Chomu Gamjatang. The kimchi was so good. Now I'm even more excited for the main dish.

Small gamjatang at ₩35,000 with added perilla leaves

I ordered the gamjatang (small) for ₩35,000, and added perilla leaves on top. At Chomu Gamjatang you can add whatever ingredients you like — potatoes, dumpling soup dough, and so on — and fried rice is also available.

I love perilla leaves so I added those! It was fresh and delicious haha. Being able to add whatever dish I wanted made it even better. You can customize it to your taste — there's a lot you can add, like potatoes, dumpling dough, and more. And of course, you can get fried rice too haha. Fried rice is a must/

Ordered gamjatang (small), ₩35,000

I was shocked at how huge the portion was! And the broth is truly refreshing :) Such a perfect dish for a rainy day. Korean soul food/ And the restaurant was so clean, with wide spacing between tables too, which I loved.

The meat was tender and really delicious. I feel great about having found a good restaurant :) I think I'll come back every time it rains. Korean soul food/

I think gamjatang really is the best thing to eat on a rainy day. I'll definitely be back here. It was honestly amazing.!

It's exactly my kind of style, so I love it even more!! Great portions and great taste :)

Is there a wait at Chomu Gamjatang?

At Chomu Gamjatang, waiting is pretty much a given if you come during lunch or dinner hours haha. Even at 11am on a weekday, there were already a lot of customers.

Everything about this place was great. Since it's a neighborhood favorite, I think I'll be coming here even more often.

Highly recommend. Make sure to check it out at least once next time. It's also easy to get to since it's near Yangjaecheon stream.
