Haeundae Chinese restaurant, mild dishes for a family trip: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 해운대점) is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, inside a complex that also runs a restaurant and a bakery café. On a Haeundae trip with elementary-school kids, the family shared jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), beef brisket jjamppong (noodle soup), whole-garlic yuringi (fried chicken in soy-vinegar sauce) and shrimp fried rice, and the light seasoning suited everyone from children to adults. Bueokgan Chinese earns a gentle recommendation for families visiting Haeundae with kids.

Main photo from the visit to Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch

On our Haeundae trip with the little ones, there was no way we were leaving without jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and jajangmyeon (black bean noodles).. so we headed to Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 해운대점), a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil!!

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae: location, hours and parking

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is at 200 Dalmaji-gil 117beonna-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan, in a standalone building you'll see as you walk up the slope along Dongbaek Elementary School. It's open daily 11:00–21:00, with a break time of 15:00–16:30. You can use the private parking lot, and roadside parking in front is also possible.

Bueokgan Chinese's standalone building on the slope

Since it's on Dalmaji-gil, it's about 7–8 minutes by car from Haeundae Beach and 8–10 minutes from Songjeong Beach, so it's super easy to get to.

The private lot is behind the building and the signs are easy to see, but the entrance is a little narrow, so look carefully as you pull in... Roadside parking in front is also fine, just so you know!

Interior and seating: what's the vibe?

Take the elevator up from the parking lot and the entrance gives you a warm first impression. I was already excited before even stepping in!

Modern interior of Bueokgan Chinese

Oh my~ it's far more modern and stylish than the loud, bustling Chinese restaurant we usually picture.

Bueokgan Chinese dining hall with lighting and European-style furniture

With the warm, distinctive lighting and the classy European-style furniture and props dotted around, you can tell they put a lot of care into the interior and every little detail~

Table layout inside Bueokgan Chinese

The tables and chairs are spaced generously too, so we could eat comfortably without worrying about the people next to us. Really nice.

Generously spaced tables and chairs at Bueokgan Chinese

I heard Bueokgan Haeundae runs a Chinese restaurant, a restaurant and a bakery café together, and the building itself is a multi-use space. Maybe that's why even small things like the atmosphere, the warmth of the space and the comfort were looked after.

Signature dishes and what we ordered

The basics at Bueokgan Chinese are jajangmyeon and jjamppong, and the famous ones are the poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang (dry-style black bean noodles) and the beef brisket jjamppong. There were plenty of other popular dishes too, like black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), whole-garlic yuringi (fried chicken with sauce) and jalapeño cream shrimp~

Best of all, they gave us plenty of spoons, which is great~ since we had to share and portion things out..

Our order: jajangmyeon, beef brisket jjamppong, whole-garlic yuringi, shrimp fried rice

Table spread of jajangmyeon, jjamppong, yuringi and shrimp fried rice

This is how we ordered~ You want this and you want that, so of course you have to try both the jjamppong and the jajangmyeon~~

Beef brisket jjamppong at Bueokgan Chinese

Beef brisket jjamppong: mild enough for elementary school kids?

The beef brisket jjamppong at Bueokgan Chinese isn't that spicy, so the kids could eat it fine. It's packed with meat, vegetables and other ingredients~ And no greasy feeling at all from the meat!! Instead it's a beef jjamppong with a deep, rich flavor~

With so much meat in it, you can enjoy chewy noodles and a generous helping of meat all the way to the end~

Whole-garlic yuringi served on lettuce

What is whole-garlic yuringi?

Bueokgan Chinese's whole-garlic yuringi is a fried chicken dish: crispy fried chicken on a bed of lettuce, eaten with whole garlic cloves.

Bueokgan Chinese yuringi with whole garlic

Eating it with whole garlic, which you don't see at ordinary Chinese restaurants, gave it even more flavor. The seasoning isn't strong, so I piled on the chilies and sauce on top, and it felt like the perfect summer stamina boost~ From now on, let's have yuringi on boknal (the hottest days of summer) too!!

Traditional-style jajangmyeon with pork and onion

Traditional-style jajangmyeon

Jajangmyeon, always full of love! Bueokgan Chinese's jajangmyeon is a traditional-style version made with thick-cut pork and plenty of onion and napa cabbage for real depth. Old-fashioned dishes like this quietly stir up memories, so I think they taste even better~

Isn't jajangmyeon the ultimate sweet-and-salty flavor?? Even as we get older, it always tastes so good~ The portion is just right too, so I bet kids would polish off a whole bowl for sure~

Bueokgan Chinese shrimp fried rice

Shrimp fried rice that comes with egg soup

Bueokgan Chinese's shrimp fried rice is made with plump, big shrimp cut into bite-sized pieces and stir-fried over high heat with egg rice until fluffy and loose.

Jajang sauce and egg soup served with the shrimp fried rice

The shrimp are so plump, and mixing the rice with the jajang sauce was delicious, with a filling heartiness that's definitely different from noodles~ And the egg soup that came with it! Hardly anywhere serves egg soup these days.. so this looked like real care too. Love it!!

Chinese food spread shared with the kids at Bueokgan Chinese

Bueokgan Chinese on a Haeundae family trip with kids: how was it?

From the jajangmyeon and jjamppong to the other dishes, nothing at Bueokgan Chinese was heavily seasoned or harsh, so it was great for the whole family, from little kids to adults. Chinese food with the kids always feels a bit special, and I enjoy that.

Above all, Chinese food in a place with a great atmosphere!! You can see Bueokgan's own personality in the authentic Chinese dishes, and it was the best~ If you're planning a Haeundae family trip with kids, I gently recommend stopping by once!!
