Seongsu shrimp burger restaurant: 2 PM weekend, 20-min wait, bd Burger

If you're a burger lover, you've probably heard of this Seongsu burger spot at least once: I went to bd Burger Seongsu! I really love burgers, so I'd had this place saved for a while, and it's famous as a handmade shrimp burger specialist, so I was super excited!

bd Burger Seongsu location and opening hours

bd Burger Seongsu is at 7 Seongsui-ro 14-gil, 2nd floor, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and it's open every day from 11:30 to 21:00 (last order 20:30). There's no dedicated parking lot, so I'd recommend using a nearby public parking lot.

It's about a 6-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 3. It's close to Seongsu's main street, so it's easy to get to, and best of all it's in the building right next to the Musinsa Store, so it's really easy to find. Lots of people come to Seongsu for pop-up stores and shopping, and it's a perfect spot to drop in for a meal while you browse haha

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building. As you can see in the photo, just go up the stairs on the right side of the building and you've arrived at bd Burger.

How long is the weekend wait at bd Burger Seongsu?

I got to bd Burger Seongsu around 2 PM on a weekend and was seated after waiting about 20 minutes. That's a bit late for lunch, but there were already lots of people at the entrance.

When I went up the stairs, several parties were already waiting, and you can really feel how popular this Seongsu restaurant is. What I especially liked is that they run big fans in the waiting area for guests...🩷 so you can wait comfortably even on a sweltering day. Burgers turn over quickly, so the line moves faster than you'd expect, and once you're number 1 in line you can sit on a chair inside and look over the menu while you wait, which felt much more comfortable.

Tips for people who don't want to wait

On weekends, you should be prepared for some waiting at bd Burger Seongsu. If you'd rather not wait, Naver takeout orders are available, and for dining in, Naver reservations are possible on weekdays for parties of 5 or more (not on weekends). Just note that the kitchen starts preparing food to match your reservation time, so you have to send your menu in advance~

bd Burger Seongsu atmosphere and seating

The interior of bd Burger Seongsu is lit with soft yellow lighting, so it feels bright and warm overall. When you think of a handmade burger place you usually picture a casual American diner, but bd Burger felt more like a Seongsu-style cozy café. It had that hip, trendy Seongsu mood too, and I saw lots of couples on dates haha

Most of the seating is two-person tables. The space isn't huge, but they use it efficiently and fit in more tables than you'd expect. So there are quite a lot of seats, but so many people visit that there seems to be a wait on weekends.

At the front of the restaurant there's a self-serve bar and a tray return. You can freely use plates, forks, knives, ketchup, various sauces, wet wipes and tissues. There's also a drink dispenser, and I heard you get one soda refill per person!

bd Burger Seongsu menu and prices

As a handmade shrimp burger specialist, bd Burger has a wide range of handmade burgers made with shrimp. The signature items are the wasabi shrimp burger and the grilled shrimp avocado burger! There are also plenty of beef burgers for people who can't eat shrimp. Burgers start at just over ₩10,000 on their own, so the prices felt reasonable.

Weekday lunch set discount

On weekdays from 11:30 to 1 PM, bd Burger Seongsu also runs a weekday lunch set discount, so I heard you can get the wasabi shrimp burger set and the double cheeseburger set for ₩3,000–3,500 off.

Review event

If you join the Naver or Google review event, you can also get a free bd corn salad, so definitely take part.

What we ordered and how long it took from waiting to eating

I arrived at bd Burger Seongsu at 2 PM, waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and the food came out about 10 minutes after I sat down, so it took around 30 minutes in total from arriving to starting to eat. After sitting down and before the food came, I grabbed utensils and ketchup from the self-serve bar~!

This time I ordered the wasabi shrimp burger set, the grilled shrimp avocado burger set, and one milkshake. I paid ₩2,000 extra on each set to swap the side: one for butter garlic fries, the other for fried eggplant & mushrooms.

When the burgers are done, the tablet order screen tells you to pick up, which was convenient. Once I got my food I understood why it's so popular...❤️ With two burgers and the sides together, the table was packed, generous and really appetizing.

Grilled shrimp avocado burger + extra shrimp

Personally, the bd grilled shrimp avocado burger was the best thing I ate that day! It's stacked with flame-grilled whole shrimp, bacon, avocado, red onion, tomato and lettuce, and when I added extra shrimp it came with two layers of shrimp. The bouncy texture of whole shrimp really came through, and the flame-grilled aroma was full of flavor.

Butter garlic fries

The butter garlic fries are seasoned crinkle-cut fries topped with plenty of butter garlic sauce. I thought it would be pretty strong, but it wasn't over the top. It's savory, with a mild richness of butter and a hint of garlic! The portion is generous too, so it's good for sharing among several people.

Big size wasabi shrimp burger

The wasabi shrimp burger is another signature menu item at bd Burger. I wanted to eat plenty, so I ordered the big size, and the shrimp patty was seriously thick. (Honestly, a couple in the early stage of dating might be embarrassed to eat it haha)

The shrimp patty is crispy-fried outside and packed with juicy shrimp inside. The shrimp isn't completely minced but keeps its shape, so the bouncy texture was really good. The wasabi isn't as strong as you'd think, so even people who usually can't handle wasabi can easily try it. It cuts the richness and brings out the shrimp flavor even more, so I immediately understood why it's a popular item.

Fried eggplant & mushrooms

The fried eggplant & mushrooms are a bd Burger signature side that was very satisfying even as a side. It comes with 3 fried mushrooms, 3 pieces of fried eggplant, plus chipotle sauce and ranch sauce.

The fried eggplant has a much stronger coating than the eggplant in a typical Chinese restaurant's eoh-hyang gaji (fish-flavored eggplant). It's really crispy outside and soft inside, and dipped in the chipotle sauce it gets a spicy kick and tastes even better! The fried mushrooms were juicy when I bit into them, with the mushroom's distinct aroma and chewy texture intact. The combination with the ranch sauce was especially good.

bd Burger Seongsu tray return, restroom and Musinsa partnership event

At bd Burger Seongsu, when you finish eating you just leave your tray at the return window. It's not a fast-food style where you clear everything yourself; the staff handle it, which was convenient. The restroom is down the stairs, and you take a key with you.

It's an event that has ended now, but bd Burger Seongsu is a partner store with Musinsa, so you could join a Musinsa event by bringing your receipt. If they run a similar partnership event again, that would be a good time to visit bd Burger!

Verdict: Seongsu shrimp burgers worth a weekend wait

bd Burger Seongsu is a popular Seongsu restaurant selling handmade shrimp burgers, and even though there was a wait at weekend lunchtime, it was so delicious that it was worth putting up with. If you're looking for a distinctive burger spot in Seongsu or you love shrimp burgers, I definitely recommend it.
