I was looking for somewhere quiet to have a date near Suwon Station and found this bar, Manseokjip! It's a room bar, and turns out it's great for couples, group blind dates, or gatherings. They even have a Bobae phone charger there — nice touch!!
Manseokjip room sizes: from a two-seat couples' room to a 10-person group room
There were way more rooms than I expected, from small couples' rooms to group seating! With rooms for 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 people, you really don't have to worry about how many people show up to your gathering.
Being on the 3rd floor could be a bit of a hassle going up and down, but there's a smoking room inside, so smokers should be comfortable too haha. Also, it's tucked inside Suwon Station's Rodeo Street, so it's easy to find and super close to the station — the location is the best.
How quiet is the couples' room the night before a holiday?
I went with my boyfriend and we sat in a small couples' room. It was pretty cozy and nice. Since it was the night before a public holiday, every bar around was loud, but we could drink quietly here. I peeked at the group rooms while walking by lol. When I went, there was a group playing games and having a blast haha, looked fun,,
How long can you stay, and how much is the room fee?
The time limit is 2.5 hours, but it's unlimited if no one's waiting! They also do birthday events apparently, so it'd be great for a birthday party with friends too. Since it's a room bar there's a room fee, but at ₩2,000–3,000 it's such great value..! You know other room bars are way more expensive, right? haha. Being a room bar, it's perfect both for a group meetup and for a date too.
No smoking inside the room!! Auctions pop up on the tablet sometimes, where you can apparently buy side dishes at a discount. Sadly there wasn't one when I went ㅜㅠ
The menu is genuinely more varied than I expected, and great value too. Even though it's a room bar, the side dishes aren't overpriced at all..! Soups, fried dishes, fruit platters — pretty much whatever you'd want was there. Good for a first round or a second round lol
The basic side dish was the reliable chicken leg crackers haha. We were picking at them one by one and the food came out pretty fast.
How does the brisket sundubu jjigae at 19,900 won taste?
Brisket sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), ₩19,900. I need a soup dish when I'm drinking, so after going back and forth with the spicy chicken and octopus stew, I picked the sundubu jjigae!! You know a soup dish is the best drinking food, right? haha
A whole block of soft tofu goes in, and there's a surprisingly generous amount of meat. The egg is a must!! Good price, good portion, good taste. It's the kind of flavor that makes the soju go down smoothly. Besides the meat and tofu, there's a hefty amount of cabbage in there too. If you're torn on which soup to get, I'd recommend this one.
Manseokjip's brisket sundubu jjigae goes great with drinks, but as I kept eating I started really craving rice lol. So I couldn't resist and ordered rice too ㅜㅜ
Rice topped with Spam for 1,500 won
Here, the rice comes topped with Spam. It's ₩1,500! Eating it with the stew made it twice as good lol. A bowl of rice at a bar with a slice of Spam on top for ₩1,500 — that's peak value..
Charcoal-grilled seasoned makchang for 17,900 won
Charcoal-grilled seasoned makchang (grilled beef intestines), ₩17,900. I went back and forth between the salted and seasoned version and picked seasoned. Makchang is just delicious by nature haha. The best drinking food, too!
It comes with a mayo sauce made with chives and cheongyang chili peppers. Eating them together is insanely good ㅜㅠ The seasoning has a sweetish edge and a smoky char flavor too, so you just keep reaching for more haha. Go have a quiet, budget-friendly drinking date at Manseokjip near Suwon Station! The vibe is the best! The food is the best! The price is the best! haha
