Yongin Chinese spot, white tangsuyuk with salad: Doseogwan Dwitjip

In short

Doseogwan Dwitjip (도서관뒷집) is a book-themed Chinese restaurant near Cheongdeok Library in Cheongdeok-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin. After a first meal there kept coming to mind, the writer went back and shared a mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), fried rice and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). The standouts were the pale tangsuyuk served with salad, crispy outside and tender inside, and the jjamppong broth, which the restaurant says is aged for more than 12 hours. Verdict: rice from the self-serve bar at Doseogwan Dwitjip is free, so it is a great place to mix the last of your jjamppong broth with rice.

Why I went back to Doseogwan Dwitjip in Cheongdeok-dong, Yongin

Doseogwan Dwitjip is a newly opened Chinese restaurant in Cheongdeok-dong, Yongin! Cheongdeok Library is nearby, and the owner seems to love books, so I guess that's how the name (it means "the house behind the library") came about. I tried it once before, it was so good and I kept thinking about it, so I went again haha

Spacious interior of Doseogwan Dwitjip

The inside is pretty spacious, and I hear it only opened recently, but it already has plenty of regulars, so it's a great Chinese place in Yongin. You can see an open view of the forest, there are books, the atmosphere is nice and the food is good too! If you work nearby, it's perfect for a weekday lunch, a company dinner or a family meal :)

If you write a receipt review at Doseogwan Dwitjip, they give you 4 fried dumplings as a freebie, so do join in~!

What we ordered at Doseogwan Dwitjip

This time we ordered a mini tangsuyuk, fried rice and jjamppong and shared them. I'd heard the tangsuyuk was so good that I had to include it. The menu is more varied than I expected: a one-person set lets you try tangsuyuk, jjajang (black bean noodles) and jjamppong at once, and there's also an eye-catching snow cheese jjamppong.

Free rice at the self-serve bar

At the self-bar you can freely grab extra side dishes, small plates, aprons and so on, and the rice is even free to take. Mixing rice into the jjamppong broth... ahh, what more is there to say?

Book-themed interior with a forest view

The vibe is so good, isn't it? T_T I want to live with a view like this someday... The interior is healing while you eat haha

What does Doseogwan Dwitjip's white tangsuyuk taste like?

The tangsuyuk comes with a special sauce the owner makes himself, and it's crispy outside and juicy inside, so much that you can tell good oil was used haha. The food came out fast, and the tangsuyuk arrived first. Please try the tangsuyuk too!

It's unusual that it comes with salad, and maybe because only good oil is used, it isn't greasy and the color is a kind of milky white? haha

Fried rice topped with noodles and jjajang sauce

The fried rice here, unusually, has noodles too. I heard they use little water when making jjajang and don't season it with MSG or sugar, so it's easy to enjoy with no health worries, for the whole family :)

Also, the sweetness of the onions pairs great with the chunjang (black bean paste) haha. It's the regular jjajang sauce, but it has a rich, deep flavor like ganjjajang (dry-fried jjajang), and the fried rice wasn't oily, so it didn't feel heavy.

A Chinese restaurant for solo meals or sharing between two or three

The jjamppong, jjajang and tangsuyuk are all good at Doseogwan Dwitjip, so if you go with two or three people, ordering several dishes and sharing is the way to go. And of course plenty of people dine solo too, so it's a good place for that as well :)

Ahh, so delicious and good value too, this Chinese restaurant T_T no wonder I keep thinking about it..!! The deep jjamppong broth plus crispy-outside, juicy-inside tangsuyuk~~!

Table spread of shared tangsuyuk, fried rice and jjamppong
Jjamppong with cockles at Doseogwan Dwitjip

Why is Doseogwan Dwitjip's jjamppong broth so rich?

They say the jjamppong is stir-fried with only vegetable stock, no water, and the broth is then slow-aged at low temperature for over 12 hours, which gives it extra depth. Even the basic jjamppong has cockles in it, and it's the kind of taste that soothes your whole stomach. Spicy yet deep~! Anyone who's tried it will know.

The owner is kind too, so the meal feels even better, the food comes out fast and tastes good, so 200% I'll be back! Popular places with lots of regulars always have a reason, right haha. The tangsuyuk is fried in fresh oil, so it's white with a thin batter, packed with meat, tasty and tender, and then a slurp each of the jjajang and jjamppong, ahh~

Waiting tablet, free coffee and the large-portion perk

There's a waiting-list tablet for when there's a queue, and you can have a cup of coffee on your way out haha. For police officers, firefighters and soldiers they give a larger portion at no extra charge, such a warm place,, T_T

I'd been craving Chinese food for a while, and I left well fed and happy, hehe. With an interior full of books, Doseogwan Dwitjip fills both heart and stomach~! If you're looking for a good place or a family meal in Cheongdeok-dong, Yongin, I recommend a meal at Doseogwan Dwitjip.
