What we ordered and what it cost
From the tablet order menu, I picked the special hanwoo gochujang yukhoe bibimbap and the sprout ginseng with honey.

The storefront and dining room at Baengni Gomtang
Baengni Gomtang was easy to spot right away thanks to its clean white sign out front. By the entrance stand standee boards for the signature hanwoo gomtang and yukhoe bibimbap — just the visuals made my mouth water.

Stepping inside, the warm, tidy interior really impressed me. On one side sit beautiful traditional mother-of-pearl furniture and ceramic pieces, giving the space a classic yet refined Korean-restaurant charm.

With sunlight pouring in through the wall of windows and plenty of space, it felt perfect for a date, a gathering, or a meal with your parents. Ordering is simple, too, via the tablet at each table!

Three banchan and the clear broth
After ordering, hygienically wrapped utensils arrived first, along with three neat banchan (side dishes).

- Diced radish kimchi: crunchy and well-fermented, a perfect match with bibimbap.
- Salad: soft and light, great for cleansing the palate before the meal.
- Squid jeotgal (salted seasoned squid): salty and savory, really wakes up your appetite.

Alongside that came a deep, savory clear broth that warmed me up from the inside — it put me in a good mood even before the main dish arrived.

Hanwoo gochujang yukhoe bibimbap, special size, 16,000 won
Finally, the yukhoe bibimbap I'd been waiting for arrived! It came piled generously in a heavy, high-quality brass bowl — a visual win right off the bat.
Fresh, bright red yukhoe (raw beef) sat heaped in the center, surrounded by lettuce, crunchy sprouts, and salty pickled garnish — the texture combination was perfect. The yukhoe itself had zero gamy smell, was wonderfully chewy and nutty, and you could tell right away how fresh it was. The sauce wasn't overly sweet or salty either, letting the natural flavors of the ingredients shine through.

Sprout ginseng with honey, 12,000 won: the signature touch
And here's the big twist unique to Baengni Gomtang near Hongik University Station: they serve sprout ginseng alongside the meal. One root is thoughtfully placed on top of the bibimbap, and a silver tray comes with a generous portion of sprout ginseng and sweet honey served separately.

Dipping the slightly bitter sprout ginseng into the honey felt like a little health boost, and honestly, like I was being properly taken care of.
