Goyang café with kids: chrysanthemums & free sweet potato, Baedagol
In short
Baedagol Bakery House (배다골베이커리하우스) is a garden bakery café on Hoguk-ro 1121beon-gil in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. After a summer hydrangea-season visit, the writer returned to Baedagol Bakery House in autumn with the kids after daycare pickup. They enjoyed the chrysanthemum garden, a free sweet potato for spending 30,000 won or more, a butter pretzel and Basque cheesecake, the sandpit behind the building and outdoor seats under evening string lights. Baedagol Bakery House is a family café that suits seasonal garden views and fresh bread with children.

Why we went back to Baedagol Bakery House with the kids this autumn
We revisited Baedagol Bakery House in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, in autumn, timed with my kids' daycare pickup. Last summer the hydrangeas were blooming in so many lovely colors, and I loved the scenery so much that I got curious about autumn at Baedagol too 😊

From summer hydrangeas to autumn chrysanthemums: chestnut and sweet potato lattes
By autumn, the garden at Baedagol Bakery House was planted with chrysanthemums in every color, and the menu had a new chestnut latte and sweet potato latte. When I came in summer, the hydrangeas were in full bloom and the menu was full of cool summer seasonal drinks like melon drinks!
This time everything had changed with the season! Sweet, warm chestnut and sweet potato lattes had arrived, and the colorful autumn garden is just as pretty. 🌸🍂

How is the seating at Baedagol Bakery House laid out?
The café is divided into the 1st floor, the 2nd floor, a 2nd-floor terrace and outdoor tables. The 1st floor looks onto the garden, so the green windows are lovely!

The 2nd floor has three private, room-like spaces plus a terrace. Note that the 2nd-floor terrace is a no-kids zone!

When I visited in summer it was so crowded that I missed out on the pretty seat I wanted, but this time the prime spot I'd had my eye on happened to be free! Happily settled in, I ordered. There were lots of seasonal drinks~

What we ordered at Baedagol Bakery House
Baedagol has lots of kinds of bread too~~~ Here's what we ordered today.
- Lemonade & plum ade
- Butter pretzel
- Basque cheesecake
- Kids' drinks

A café giving away sweet potatoes? The 30,000-won purchase event
After ordering, I found out there was an event: a free sweet potato with a purchase of ₩30,000 or more! A café handing out sweet potatoes is pretty unusual, right? 🍠
And the sweet potato we got was so plump and nice that it surprised me! It's much better quality than the ones I recently bought myself at the supermarket. Sweet potatoes are sweet and in perfect season right now, so I brought it home to steam for the kids when they're peckish after daycare, or as a breakfast snack!! haha

How do the butter pretzel and Basque cheesecake taste?
The butter pretzel at Baedagol was so soft, and after one bite my kid said, "Mom, let's come back to eat this bread again!" It was moist and nutty enough to win over a kid's taste buds, and I was totally satisfied. 💕
The Basque cheesecake wasn't the very dense, fudgy type; it was fluffy and soft like sponge cake. Personally I'm on team dense and fudgy, so the butter pretzel was much better for my taste than the cheesecake!

The sandpit behind the building: why Baedagol is great with kids
There's a kids' sandpit behind the building. After eating, I was looking around the café, and when I went around back, wow! There's a sandpit?
I'd missed it completely when we came last summer, but the sand play area is so well done that I thought it's the best place to bring kids!! Next time I'll bring some sand toys along. 😉
Evening string lights and blanket-wrapped outdoor seats
When the sun goes down, pretty string lights come on at Baedagol. With the lights on, the mood becomes even more romantic and pretty 👍👍 The evening breeze has been quite cool lately, so it felt a little chilly outside!!

Luckily the café has plenty of blankets, so I wrapped up warm and enjoyed the autumn night breeze outdoors and relaxed!! Baedagol shows a different charm each season, and it's a really good place to enjoy the autumn atmosphere with kids over tasty bread and drinks.
Watching trains on the railway near Baedagol Bakery House
A little way down from Baedagol there's a railway track, so I checked when the trains pass and watched one before heading home^^ Be sure to visit once before autumn is over!
