Sokcho café near Hanwha Resort Seorak: Ulsanbawi views at Cafe Neorae
In short
Cafe Neorae is a large bakery café on Wonamhaksapyeong-gil in Sokcho, Gangwon, near Hanwha Resort Seorak and the Haksapyeong sundubu (soft tofu) village. The café begins on the second floor above a sundubu restaurant, and floor-to-ceiling windows frame Seoraksan and the Ulsanbawi rock ridge, so the window seats fill up first. Cafe Neorae is a good stop in Sokcho when you want a mountain view instead of the usual sea view.

While traveling around Sokcho, I was looking for somewhere I could sit back and enjoy a coffee with a great view, and that's how I ended up at Cafe Neorae ☕️ Sokcho has plenty of cafés with sea views, but this time I picked something a little different — a mountain-view café where you can take in the grand Ulsanbawi rock and Seoraksan. Bottom line: the scenery was beautiful and the interior was spacious, so it was a great place to rest during a Sokcho trip 😊
Where is Cafe Neorae, and where do you park? Near Hanwha Resort Seorak and the Haksapyeong sundubu village
Cafe Neorae sits on Wonamhaksapyeong-gil in Sokcho, Gangwon. Being near Hanwha Resort Seorak and the Haksapyeong sundubu village made it a convenient stop after a meal. There's a parking space in front of the building too, so it was easy to visit by car 🚗

Sundubu restaurant on the 1st floor, Cafe Neorae from the 2nd floor up
The building has a sundubu (soft tofu) restaurant on the 1st floor, with the café starting from the 2nd floor. From outside I hadn't realized how big it was, but once inside, the space turned out to be pretty spacious. Each floor has a different range of seating, so it looked great for couples on a date, families, or trips with parents.
What does the Ulsanbawi view look like through the big windows?
The first thing that caught my eye as soon as I walked into Cafe Neorae was the huge floor-to-ceiling window. Beyond it stretched green scenery and the grand Ulsanbawi rock, and it honestly felt like looking at a painting ⛰️✨ On clear days you can even make out the sharp ridgeline of Ulsanbawi, and I immediately understood why the window seats are so popular.
Sokcho usually brings to mind the blue sea first, but this close-up view of Seoraksan and Ulsanbawi felt special in its own way. Just sitting there taking in the scenery, I could feel the travel fatigue melting away naturally. The view outside the window probably looks different each season, so I'd love to come back once each in spring, summer, fall, and winter 🍃
Seats and interior at Cafe Neorae
The interior is built around warm wood tones, giving the whole space a calm, comfortable feel. The gaps between tables were fairly generous too, so conversations at nearby tables weren't distracting, and each seating area had a slightly different mood. There was everything from big tables good for groups to quiet window seats for taking in the view.
Cafe Neorae menu: Neorae Latte and the bakery counter
Cafe Neorae sells bakery items alongside its drinks 🥐🍞 The display case was lined with all kinds of tempting bread, and just browsing was fun. Even though I'd already eaten, catching that toasty bread smell made it hard to just walk past.
The café's signature item is the Neorae Latte, topped with a soft cream made from okara (soybean pulp) — apparently their own take unique to this café, and it felt fitting for a café located in a sundubu village. It was fun seeing a familiar ingredient used in a different way. With menu items like Neorae Pudding, Neorae Bread, and Neorae Tea that carry the café's own character, it felt different from an ordinary franchise café 💛
Why Cafe Neorae works as an indoor stop in Sokcho
I enjoyed a bit of downtime with coffee and dessert in front of me, looking out at Ulsanbawi. Travel schedules can get busy running from place to place, but at Cafe Neorae, just sitting and looking at the view felt satisfying enough on its own. It's a good spot to slowly sip a drink and chat, and just as good for sitting alone quietly.
What I liked most was that, being such a large café, there were plenty of seats and the interior stayed comfortable. Even on hot or rainy days, you can enjoy the Seoraksan view from indoors, so I'd recommend it as an indoor Sokcho destination too. I saw families with kids spending time comfortably, and the restrooms and interior facilities were kept clean 👍
