Thursday-night Seomyeon Korean BBQ with a doenjang rice pot: Anmin

Anmin Busan is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Dongcheon-ro near Seomyeon Station Exit 12 in Busan, where staff grill the pork for you. The writer booked a Thursday dinner with her sister and niece, ordered the whole-pig set (700g, 64,000 won) and a pot of doenjang sul-bap (rice simmered in soybean paste stew), and was won over by staff who cut the niece's meat to size and a polished room that leaves no smell on clothes. Apart from the lack of parking support, Anmin Busan is a Seomyeon BBQ spot worth recommending for family dinners with children.

Seomyeon peanut bread shop: a dieter's allulose peanut latte, Daeshin

Daeshin Peanut Bread Busan Seomyeon Branch is a peanut bread and egg bread snack shop at 20 Seojeon-ro, Busanjin-gu, Busan. A dieter who works out had 20 peanut breads (3,000 won), 2 egg breads and a peanut latte blended from only peanuts, milk and allulose as dessert after a meal. The peanut bread, more than half peanut inside, tasted nutty and not too sweet. Daeshin Peanut Bread Seomyeon is worth a stop for a less sweet snack for kids or adults.

Weekend galbitang lunch in Seomyeon with bean sprouts: Gang Galbitang

Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is a galbitang (beef short rib soup) and gukbap (rice soup) restaurant on Saessak-ro, near Exit 11 of Seomyeon Station in Busan. On a hot, humid weekend lunch the writer ordered one galbitang and one spicy galbitang and got a bowl of onmyeon (warm noodle soup) through a review event; the long-simmered, tender ribs, the tangy dipping sauce and the chorogi (Chinese artichoke) pickles stood out. Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is worth recommending for a restorative bowl that fights heat with heat, or for a solo meal in Seomyeon.

Hadan, Busan rice cake shop: injeolmi trio my niece devoured, Hohobak

Hohobak (호호박) is a pumpkin castella injeolmi (chewy rice cake) shop on Nakdongnam-ro 1389beon-gil in Hadan, Saha, Busan. I took home Hohobak's pumpkin, mugwort and black sesame castella injeolmi plus the largest size of Hohobak pumpkin milk. All of them were not too sweet, soft and chewy, and my niece cleaned up even the castella crumbs. Apart from the lack of parking, Hohobak is a rice cake shop worth recommending for thank-you gifts or snacks for kids and adults.

Myeongji mulhoe spot for a post-swim weekend lunch: Suseong Susan

Suseong Susan is a mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and sashimi bibimbap restaurant in Myeongji, Gangseo-gu, Busan. After a swim on a hot weekend, the writer waited for a table and ordered the 3-fish mixed mulhoe (20,000 won) and a halibut and mullet mulhoe. The domestic fish was fresh, the brassware plating felt upscale, and the slushy ice kept the broth from turning bland as it melted. Suseong Susan is a good Myeongji pick when you crave cold mulhoe for a summer lunch, especially with your parents.

Nampo-dong Japanese set meal with furikake pickled radish: Daidokoro

Daidokoro Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch is a Japanese home-style set meal restaurant on the 10th-floor dining level of Lotte Department Store Gwangbok in Nampo-dong, Busan. On a weekday lunch visit, the writer ordered the chicken nanban set and the aji fry set, swapped the rice for soy sauce egg rice, and tried the furikake-seasoned pickled radish and milk pudding. Daidokoro's food isn't salty, the portions are generous and the decor is cute, making it a good Nampo-dong spot to eat with kids.
