Jeonju Hanok Village chicken shop with parking out front: Mannyeon
In short
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is a takeout-and-delivery dakgangjeong (Korean sweet crispy fried chicken) shop on Taejo-ro in Jeonju's Hanok Village. A wife who prefers plain fried and a husband who prefers seasoned ordered the half-and-half large — fried plus mild seasoned — for 30,000 won, waited about 15 minutes for it straight out of the fryer, and parked right in front of the shop while waiting. Even the next day, completely cooled, the chicken never turned soggy or hard, and the mild seasoned half tasted even better.

When I was planning our Jeonju trip, Mannyeon Dakgangjeong (만년닭강정) was the first place I bookmarked as a must-try spot in Jeonju Hanok Village. A friend recommended it, saying you can get fried and seasoned chicken half-and-half, and it's still good even after it cools down.

There's no seating — it's takeout and delivery only.

Menu and prices: medium 18,000 won, large 23,000 won
The menu has dakgangjeong (fried chicken bites) and dakgangjeong+shrimp, with flavor options split into fried, soy sauce, and seasoned (mild, spicy) — lots of options, so there's plenty of choice. There are also two sizes, medium and large.
Medium ₩18,000 Large ₩23,000 The prices are pretty reasonable overall!

There were SO many foreign tourists in Jeonju Hanok Village, and maybe that's why they've got an English menu ready too!

The half-and-half large, 30,000 won: fried plus mild seasoned
We ordered the half-and-half (large) with fried and mild seasoned. There's no medium size for the half-and-half option, so we went with large, and it came to ₩30,000.
They also have side menu items like sotteok-sotteok (rice cake & sausage skewers), sweet potato cheese sticks, jjondegi (fried gluten sticks), and cheese balls, so it seems like a good option to take back to your guesthouse or grab on the way home instead of stopping at a rest area.

Parking is always a headache when you want to eat around Jeonju Hanok Village, so it was convenient that Mannyeon Dakgangjeong lets you park briefly right in front of the store.

A 15-minute wait for chicken straight from the fryer
After waiting about 15 minutes, the freshly fried dakgangjeong came out~ It smelled amazing, and my husband and I got so excited haha. > < I kind of wished we'd gone with the shrimp version, but I'll definitely try that next time!

They also sell Jeonju makgeolli (rice wine), and it comes in small/medium/large sizes too haha. If you like drinking, having a local drink is definitely part of the fun of traveling!

The key tip: keep the lid open to stop the hot, freshly fried chicken from getting soggy!
Since it was the large size, the portion was massive — you can't even fit it all in one photo.

How does the plain fried half taste? Crisp, with no stale oil smell
The reason I picked Mannyeon Dakgangjeong as our spot to eat in Jeonju Hanok Village was that they had fried chicken as an option! My husband loves seasoned, and I love fried, so this place satisfied both of our needs > < haha.

The freshly fried chicken was crispy through and through, and the oil was drained so well that there was zero greasy off-taste or oily flavor. Sometimes chicken fat can carry a gamey smell if it's not done right, but with Mannyeon Dakgangjeong there was none of that the whole time we ate, so nothing turned my stomach.

And one more thing — the chicken wasn't dry at all. Even though each piece wasn't small either.

The mild seasoned half: chewy, sticky and sweet
The seasoned chicken was seriously sticky~~ crispy yet moist, and the sauce didn't just sit on top — it clung to the chicken and blended in perfectly. They say the sauce has ginger and pineapple in it, but the flavor wasn't distracting at all, it just tasted like really good dakgangjeong!

What is it like completely cold the next day?
The chicken I ate the next day, fully cooled, wasn't as crispy as fresh out of the fryer, but it wasn't soggy or hard either. Is this what they call skill...? Once cooled, the seasoned dakgangjeong was even more delicious. Maybe the sauce soaked in more? We ate it in the car, taking turns — one piece for my husband, one for me — and he kept asking if there was any more ^__^
The verdict on Mannyeon Dakgangjeong
If you're looking for something to eat in Jeonju Hanok Village, Mannyeon Dakgangjeong is a delicious pick
- Parking available
- Generous portion for the price

- Confirmed still good the next day
If you're planning a trip to Jeonju, I'd recommend stopping by Mannyeon Dakgangjeong for a bite in the Hanok Village!
