Paju Book City ssambap restaurant, no weekend break time: Simhaksan

In short

Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap (심학산 들꽃쌈밥) is a ssambap (rice with leafy-green wraps) restaurant serving full Korean set meals in Seopae-dong, Paju, near Paju Book City and Simhaksan Mountain. Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap has no break time on weekends and public holidays, so the writer arrived at an in-between hour and leisurely enjoyed a full spread with unlimited ssam greens, fish, spicy stir-fried pork and squid. In an area around Paju Book City with few restaurants, Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is a good stop for a hearty Korean meal without watching the clock.

Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap (심학산 들꽃쌈밥) is a Paju hanjeongsik (Korean full-course set meal) restaurant with no break time on weekends and public holidays, so you can drop in whenever you like. The set comes out as a generous spread, and with unlimited ssam greens plus fish, spicy pork and squid, it was a hearty, satisfying meal. Highly recommended for a Paju trip!

A restaurant near Paju Book City: parking and public transport

There aren't many restaurants around Paju Book City (Publishing City), but Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap has no break time on weekends and public holidays, so you can visit comfortably at any hour. That makes it a ssambap place near Simhaksan I'd recommend even for travelers without a car.

There's a big parking lot in front of the restaurant, and a bus stop nearby, so you can get here by public transport too.

Interior and seating at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap

I wanted a relaxed trip, so I visited at an in-between hour, and it wasn't crowded. I got to eat in peace.

For the size of the space, there aren't that many tables, so it doesn't get noisy even when it's busy. Since it's a hanjeongsik restaurant, the customers skew older and many come as families, which made for a nice atmosphere.

With so many family visitors, there are plenty of baby chairs too, so it's a good choice if you're coming with a child.

As a ssambap restaurant, it has lots of side dishes and vegetables, and the tables themselves are large, so it was even more comfortable to settle in.

A Simhaksan restaurant pick: how were the ssam greens?

I wanted a healthy but filling meal in Paju, so I went to Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap. There are quite a few good restaurants around Simhaksan, but that day I was craving ssambap with lots of greens and side dishes rather than anything heavily seasoned.

The biggest draw is definitely the generous ssam greens. At home it's hard to eat this many kinds of vegetables at once, but at a ssambap restaurant you naturally end up eating lots of them, which I love.

Wrap a bite of fresh greens with rice, side dishes and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and it's mild yet filling. It was good with the meat, and just as good when I wrapped up the side dishes.

A generous spread, side dishes included

It's not just the greens: the side dishes that come with them are varied too, so the table is quite full. Put a side dish on a spoonful of rice, roll it up in the greens, and before you know it the meal feels complete.

You get to try lots of side dishes in small amounts, so I thought it works well for a family meal or a visit with your parents. Above all, since you eat vegetables, rice and side dishes together, it feels a bit healthier than typical eating out.

A good stop to pair with a Simhaksan outing

If you're driving or out for the day around Simhaksan, Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap fits well as your meal stop. After a good meal, you can stroll around the area or stop by a café and spend a relaxed time.

I think it's especially good on a day when you want clean, filling Korean food in Paju rather than something too heavy or strongly flavored.

If you're looking for a ssambap restaurant in Paju

When eating out these days, a meal often centers on one thing, like meat, noodles or fried food, but this time I was happy to eat lots of vegetables and side dishes together at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap.

If you're looking for a good restaurant near Simhaksan in Paju, or a place for a filling meal nearby, I'd recommend Deulkkot Ssambap. It's an easy place to visit on a day you're craving Korean food with generous ssam greens and plenty of side dishes. If you're planning a Paju food route alongside a Simhaksan outing, keep it in mind as a meal stop :)
