Korean lunch with Dad near Gongdeok Station: why Horangi Gotgan?
Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok Branch (호랭이곳간 공덕점) is a Korean lunch spot near Gongdeok Station that I visited with my dad. At lunchtime I like food that isn't too heavy but still keeps me full until dinner.
When I eat with my dad, I go for Korean rather than Western food. Parents love their rice, right? haha But it's been a while since we ate out together, and a too-common menu felt like a waste, so I searched for somewhere new and found this place! We went to Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok and it was so tasty and satisfying.

Inside Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok: atmosphere and service
The inside is spacious and stylish :) We went after the lunch rush so it was relaxed, and there doesn't seem to be a break time. With such generous hours, it's good for lunch or dinner.
There's a self-bar with side dishes, and the tables were all neatly cleaned. Even before the meal, what I liked most was that the owner and the staff were all so kind!

The basic table setting is simple: pickled onions and kkakdugi. The spoons and chopsticks come in disposable wrapping, which is great for hygiene! Pepper, salt and vinegar sit at one side of the table. They even had hair ties, and I was touched by the thoughtful detail haha

Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok menu and how to order
You order easily at a kiosk, and the menu is so varied that there's a wide choice, which I liked. Here's what's on the menu board.
- Yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef), pork belly bibimbap, beef brisket bibimbap, beef bulgogi bibimbap, young radish bibimbap
- Sagolbap (beef bone broth rice), spicy sagolbap, spicy soft tofu sagolbap, spicy gopchang (beef intestine) sagolbap
- Hongdukkae mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth), hongdukkae bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), young radish mul naengmyeon, young radish bibim naengmyeon
- Charcoal-grilled pork bowl, charcoal-grilled soy pork bowl, charcoal-grilled baby octopus bowl
- Nurungji tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork with scorched rice)
Even with a group, everyone can pick to their taste. And if you visit often, trying each dish once means you always get a new flavor.

There were only two of us, but I couldn't give up the nurungji tangsuyuk, so we ordered 3 dishes plus a Coke Zero ;) I personally recommend ordering the nurungji tangsuyuk too. Prices are almost ₩10,000 per dish? That's just right, it's about what everything costs these days! And the portions are generous and tasty, so it's good value too.

How was the hongdukkae mul naengmyeon?
What I ordered was the hongdukkae mul naengmyeon! Finely sliced hongdukkae (beef eye of round) comes with it, and it goes really well with the noodles.
The naengmyeon broth was seasoned just right and truly delicious. With the weather getting hot these days, this is a great naengmyeon spot haha

Dad's charcoal-grilled soy pork bowl and bone broth
Dad ordered the charcoal-grilled soy pork bowl! At Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok, if you order a rice bowl, you get sagol (beef bone) broth with it.
I added a little salt and pepper to the bone broth and it was deep, rich and so good. The soy pork bowl had a strong smoky grill flavor, with good seasoning and great savory depth.

Nurungji tangsuyuk: worth ordering for two?
The nurungji tangsuyuk here is very tender boneless pork tangsuyuk served with nurungji (scorched rice). The sauce is sweet and salty and so delicious.
The batter is crispy but the meat is completely tender, so Dad ate it well too. I enjoyed it as well.

Overall verdict on Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok
- First of all, everything on the menu was delicious!
- Neat, generous portions, and a good price too!
- Friendly staff! Clean place!
In conclusion, it was a really satisfying meal^^ If you're looking for somewhere to eat near Gongdeok Station, I recommend trying Horangi Gotgan Gongdeok Branch.
