Weekday dinner top blade steak set in Munji-dong, Daejeon: Seoreojeong

Hello, it's Minu here. 😊 This time I visited Seoreojeong Munji Branch (설어정 문지점) in Munji-dong, Daejeon.

I booked ahead for a weekday dinner, and customers who had come for a meal after work were trickling in one by one. The restaurant looked tidy and clean from the first impression, so I started the meal in a good mood.

I often go for steak when I want a hearty meal, and this time I tried Seoreojeong, known as a go-to steak spot in Munji-dong.

A clean space that's pleasant for a meal🏠

The restaurant had a modern yet warm feel overall.

The tables are spaced generously, so I could eat comfortably without bumping into the next table. The neat interior seemed like a good match for a family meal or a date too. I also liked that, having reserved, I was seated right away.

At Seoreojeong the steak doesn't come alone but as a full set meal (han sang, a full table spread), which makes it even more filling, and that was the appeal for me.

A top blade steak set with impressive tenderness🥩

The main, top blade steak (budchaesal), arrives already cooked to its best, so there's no need to grill or fuss with it.

As Seoreojeong's signature, you cut it yourself into bite-size pieces with the knife provided. It's kind of fun to slice, and I could make the pieces as big as I liked.

When I picked up a piece, the meat was truly tender. It kept the clean, mild flavor typical of top blade without being overly tough, and the more I chewed, the more nutty juices spread through my mouth.

With the wasabi and soy sauce that come as standard, the savory depth of the meat really came through, and it wasn't harsh, so I could enjoy it to the end without feeling weighed down. It was a plate that lives up to the Munji-dong steak reputation.

Rice and a fried egg make it a filling meal🍳

I also liked that the top blade set comes with rice and a fried egg alongside the steak.

Putting a piece of meat on rice and adding the fried egg made it a meal with nothing lacking. A little wasabi on top cut the richness, and it went well with the soy sauce too, so I enjoyed it right to the last bite. Having it as a full set instead of just steak made it even more satisfying.

Mini curry with big chunks of meat

The mini curry I ordered as a side was better than I expected. Despite the name "mini," it had generous big chunks of meat, and the soft texture, as if slow-simmered for a long time, left an impression.

The curry wasn't too runny, with a nicely thick consistency that was good mixed with rice, and its subtle spice flavor went well with the steak too.

Having some curry in between made the meal feel even richer.

With top blade served at its best without any need to grill it yourself, plus rice and a fried egg alongside, it was a satisfying, filling meal.

The tender texture of the top blade and the combination with wasabi and soy sauce were good, and the mini curry with big chunks of meat made it an even more complete meal. If you want a hearty set meal, I recommend Seoreojeong Munji Branch, the Munji-dong steak spot.
