Glamping-style outdoor BBQ in Tapnip-dong, Daejeon: Hanmaeum Tapnip

In short

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip is a glamping-style outdoor barbecue restaurant in Tapnip-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon. In reserved transparent tent No. 4, the order was a full tray of pork with minari (water dropwort), which the owner grilled right in front of the tent, plus doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles) as a side, and fried rice made with two packs of instant rice. Between the fire-gazing zone, unlimited Terra draft beer and fireworks at the end, Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip was a relaxing meal worth returning for.

The weather's been so cool lately, perfect for camping, right? So I'm bringing you a review of Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip, a place where you can feel like you're camping even in the middle of the city! Let me show you how healing this visit was, haha.

Where is Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip, and is there parking?

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip is located at 202-21 Expo-ro 539beon-gil, 1st floor, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, in Tapnip-dong. Hours are 12:00-23:00. I was genuinely surprised a place with this much atmosphere exists in Tapnip-dong.

The parking space was really spacious too haha. You could park in a long row right in front of the restaurant. Even visiting late, there was plenty of room!

Inside the transparent tents and the fire-gazing zone

The moment I stepped inside, the campsite-like scenery spread out before me and I couldn't help but let out a little scream haha.

Outdoor area with individual tents surrounding a bonfire

There were individual tents around a central bonfire. The separate tent spaces made it feel private while still giving that camping vibe (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

I'd made a reservation ahead of time and got tent No. 4! Since the tent was transparent, it felt open and airy too, haha.

In the center was a romantic fire-gazing space, and there were chairs set right in front of it, perfect for warming up when it got chilly.

In front of the fire zone, there was also a big screen playing soft music in the background, adding even more atmosphere, haha.

Order the meat at the shop, the owner does the grilling

But food comes first, right? Hahaha. We quickly went to order the meat! You can order meat at the on-site shop, and we grabbed a full tray of pork and some minari (water dropwort)! At Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip, they grill everything for you, so you just hand your meat choice straight to the owner!

Shop fridge with alcohol, drinks, and ice cream

There was a wide variety of alcohol and drinks, and they even sold ice cream. Perfect for after all that meat~

Self-serve bar with tableware neatly arranged

Self-serve corner with sauces and seasonings

Tableware, extra side dishes, and sauces were all ready to go. You could use as much as you needed, freely, haha.

Self-serve area with cold water ready

There was also cold water ready, and just looking at it felt refreshing, haha.

Basket for carrying needed items

Load up a cute basket with everything you need and head back to the tent, go go!

Basic side dishes set up on the tent table

Side dishes and doenjang jjigae that come with the meal

By the time we ordered the meat and came back, the table already had all the basic side dishes set up! Pickled onion, seasoned bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled radish, pineapple, lettuce wraps, plus various sauces! And there was even jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) too (so generous..)

And it wasn't even over yet haha. Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) came included as standard!!!! Eating it bubbling hot, the seasoning was just right and it melted my body right down.

Pork belly grilled at your tent and unlimited Terra draft beer

The meat we ordered was grilled right in front of our tent immediately — on a big grill plate, cooked deliciously. Grilling meat inside a tent usually means a lot of smoke and hassle, but having it all grilled for us was so nice ❤

Pork grilling on a large plate in front of the tent

While it was being grilled to perfection, cheers ლ(╹◡╹ლ) My husband had the unlimited Terra draft beer — they gave a separate beer cup, and right next to the fire-gazing zone was a beer machine where you could refill freely. He gave a thumbs up, saying fresh cold beer is the best.

While having a drink, the beautifully cooked meat finally appeared!!!! Even the vegetables looked so appetizingly grilled.

Fully grilled pork belly and vegetables

I immediately tried a piece of pork belly with the fragrant minari, and it was cooked through so well it was incredibly juicy! The rich meaty flavor paired with the minari was just the best combination.

A bite of the sweet, tangy, spicy jjolmyeon~ then a bite with the bean sprouts~ With so many different side dishes, there was a lot of fun mixing combinations. The variety of textures meant we never got tired of it.

Can't skip the wraps either~ We each showed off our wraps before wolfing them down in one bite! A wrap really only tastes right when it's stuffed full in one mouthful.

The minari was delicious, but this chili pepper was seriously incredible. Its perfect bit of sharpness kept the meat from ever feeling repetitive.

Finishing with fried rice made from two packs of rice

Once we'd eaten enough meat, it was time for some carbs~ We debated just eating plain rice but ended up ordering the fried rice instead! The fried rice comes with two packs of instant rice as standard, so the portion is pretty huge!

They turned on the burner and skillfully stir-fried it all up, sk-sk~

And just like that, delicious, savory fried rice was complete! Even though it didn't have any of the meat we'd been eating mixed in, it was still savory and delicious. Not being overly seasoned actually made it even better.

Fireworks and yogurt drinks given by the owner

Finally, the owner gave us fireworks and yogurt drinks! It was hard to leave, but we got to set off fireworks in the fire-gazing zone and finish sweetly with yogurt, haha.

Who is Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip best for?

Being able to enjoy delicious meat and cold draft beer to our heart's content in this wide-open outdoor setting made for a filling, healing meal! It's a great place for kids to run around freely, and equally perfect for a date with a partner or a cozy gathering with friends.

Being able to feel this healed in the middle of the city, how could I not come back? Hahaha. If you're looking for a great BBQ restaurant in Daejeon, or a great BBQ restaurant in Yuseong-gu, I recommend Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip.
