Ara-dong, Jeju restaurant for chicken spinach cream risotto: Cultured

Cultured (컬쳐드) is a Western restaurant on Seungcheon-ro in Ara-dong, Jeju City, serving salads, pasta, risotto and pizza, and a local favourite with families who bring children. The writer booked a dinner at Cultured with an 80-day-old baby and parents and ordered à la carte: raw salmon salad, spinach cream risotto, whole-loaf cream panne (cream pasta in a bread bowl) and the Cultured pizza, with one free drink per person and free refills. Portions are generous enough that one salad and three mains feed a family of four, and with baby chairs and baby tableware brought out unasked, Cultured is a good fit for a family meal with a baby.

Oedo, Jeju bakery: chamoe smoothie and Manong baguette, Bakery Onyu

Bakery Onyu Jeju Oedo Branch is a family bakery on Ujeong-ro in Jeju City, run by two generations of Korean Master Bakers. The writer took out blueberry and chamoe (Korean melon) smoothies, a mango donut, an egg tart, a Jeju Manong baguette (Manong means garlic in Jeju dialect) and a Maple Fantasy to eat in the car and at the lodging; the Jeju Manong baguette overflowing with garlic cream and the seasonal chamoe smoothie were the standouts. Bakery Onyu suits anyone looking for a neighborhood bakery Jeju locals use rather than a tourist bakery hotspot.
