It's been a while since I was last in Daegu, so I stopped by Jangjak Saenggalbi Jongno Main Branch (벽돌 생갈비 종로점), a galbi spot in Jongno! I was bringing my 3-month-old baby, so I looked for a place where staff grill the meat for you haha. You can book on Naver, which was great!

Where is Jangjak Saenggalbi Jongno Main Branch, and is there parking?

I heard it's a hot spot in Jongno these days~ Luckily I came at an off-peak time and got a seat!!! Floors 1 and 2 have tables and floor 3 has rooms haha.

Seating at Jangjak Saenggalbi: tables and 3rd-floor rooms

The first floor has lots of tables, and when I went there was just one left. There were both 2-person and 4-person tables~ There's group seating and rooms too, so it'd be great for get-togethers haha.

Jangjak Saenggalbi menu and how to order

The original brick-cut fresh galbi!! I'd been looking forward to it since I got here. I was also hoping for the Uiseong garlic fresh galbi, but it was sold out when I ordered ㅠㅠ

The basic side dishes come out neatly, and the meat is grilled over charcoal haha.

Free cypress steamer served before the meat

Before the meat arrives, they bring out a free cypress steamer (pyeonbaek-jjim)! The quality is good too >_<

Wow, look at the color of that meat... We ordered half plates, but a full plate would be even more brick-worthy, wouldn't it? My mouth is watering haha. Is it because they trim the raw meat in-house? The marbling is amazing, right?

Korean BBQ with a 3-month-old baby: how did it go?

At Jangjak Saenggalbi Jongno Main Branch, staff grill the meat, so I could eat comfortably even while holding my 3-month-old. It was the baby, my husband, my dad and me, and I wondered who on earth would do the grilling.... but since the staff grilled for us, we could chat easily, which was so nice haha.

I was in such a good mood, of course we had to cheer!!! The 3-month-old stayed in my arms... (I swapped with my husband's arms haha)

Staff-grilled marinated galbi and side dishes

Marinated galbi burns easily, so the griller's skill matters, and it was grilled just right, which maybe made it taste even better? The cooked pieces are set out for you so they're easy to eat haha.

Marinated galbi is tasty on its own, dipped in ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), or wrapped in lettuce. I love how many things come with it~~~

Wraps and side dishes to eat with marinated galbi

If you need more wraps or side dishes, just request them on the tablet haha. You don't have to tell anyone, since everything is on the tablet, which was convenient. I requested wraps and chili peppers!

Extra fresh and marinated galbi with the house special sauce

The galbi was so good that my husband and dad finished it fast. We ordered more right away before the momentum broke!!! We added 1 portion of fresh galbi and 1 portion of marinated galbi.

And when this gets grilled perfectly too?! Gone in a flash~ The sauces are varied, so you don't get tired of it. The special sauce is so good!!

I was a little worried about bringing a baby, but the staff were so sweet to her, and there are waiting seats by the entrance, so when the baby cried I paced in front of the restaurant lol. The fresh galbi was clean-tasting and delicious, the service was great, and I was completely satisfied.

How were the doenjang-jjigae and mul naengmyeon?

For a meal dish I ordered the doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), and this thing is a sneaky one!!! One taste and my husband said it was totally his style haha.

Doenjang-jjigae in an earthenware pot, ordered as a meal dish
Doenjang-jjigae loaded with ingredients

It's loaded with ingredients, and the broth goes without saying~ My dad and I scooped out what we'd eat, and my husband just picked up the earthenware pot and ate from it haha.

Mul naengmyeon ordered with the galbi

And naengmyeon (cold noodles), which galbi can't do without!! I went with mul naengmyeon (in cold broth), and Jangjak does the meal dishes well too ㅠㅠ The naengmyeon was totally my taste lol. Honestly I was holding the baby so I couldn't eat much, but I still think about that naengmyeon ㅠㅠ

We had a really great meal. We had a good time with the baby at this staff-grilled galbi place in Jongno, Daegu. I plan to go back >_<
