Daegu curry restaurant with breezy open windows: Rama & Bavana
In short
Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch is an Indian and Asian restaurant on the 2nd floor at 86 Yonghak-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu, facing Suseong Lake. The writer left the kids in someone else's care for an early weekday lunch with her husband. At a window seat with the windows thrown wide open, they had salad, the new cream tandoori chicken, a 1.5-portion beef curry, naan and nasi goreng, and the breeze made it feel like a picnic. Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch suits a couple's date for anyone who wants beef curry adapted to Korean tastes with a view of Suseong Lake.

It was one of those days when I left the kids behind and finally went on a date with my husband! The weather was lovely, and picking Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch, a restaurant with a view, was a stroke of genius.
Outside parking
The restaurant has its own parking lot behind the building, so using the free Suseong Lake parking is easy too. On a date you might worry about where to leave the car, but you don't need to here.
What are the window seats and interior like?
There are even waiting seats, so yes, weekend lunch can have a line! I went early on a weekday lunch, so luckily I was seated without any wait.

The place feels clean and modern. Any seat is nice, but the window seats have the best view! There are baby and toddler chairs too, so it's a good Suseong Lake restaurant to bring kids.

We were shown to a window seat, and the lush green view is lovely, isn't it? The weather was so good that the windows were wide open, a gentle breeze came in, and it felt like eating outdoors. Getting a picnic feeling at a Suseong-gu curry restaurant in Daegu is a real bonus~
What did the two of us order?
At Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch, we chose the salad through a Naver receipt review, and ordered cream tandoori chicken, 1.5-portion beef curry, naan and nasi goreng (Indonesian-style fried rice). We were very happy with the combination.

Salad
I liked that the salad came with cheese, lots of fresh vegetables, pineapple and more. The portion was quite big too! The dressing was ketchup plus mayonnaise, our favorite combo as a couple, so it passes. With that view it tasted even better, and again it felt like a picnic.

New menu: cream tandoori chicken
We tried the cream tandoori chicken because it was a new menu item, and the spices and cream together were pretty good! It wasn't on the menu the last time we visited Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch, and this new addition was a success.

The texture is chewy and the Indian spices are present but moderate, so if you enjoy Indian food in Daegu, give it a try.

How many portions of Rama & Bavana beef curry should you order?
Curry is the one thing we always order at Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch. Chicken curry and shrimp curry are fine, but my personal pick is the beef curry. My husband loves it so much that one portion is never enough, so we always order 1.5 portions.

It's a Daegu curry favorite, so even 1.5 portions vanish between the two of us in no time. The 1.5-portion beef curry comes in two bowls, one big and one small. Rice or naan doesn't come by default, so please note you need to order naan, rice or garlic naan as an add-on.

The flavor isn't overpowering; it's just what Korean diners tend to like. I like that it keeps the local taste of Indian food while being adapted to Korean tastes.

How to enjoy naan, rice and curry
Beef curry is delicious spooned onto naan or dunked with it, and wrapping tandoori chicken in naan is great too. The curry is such a standout that I also recommend ordering one naan and one rice and mixing the curry into the rice. That's how we eat on days we skip the nasi goreng. Curry is the main act for us 🧡

Nasi goreng with stretchy cheese
Rama & Bavana's nasi goreng is seafood fried rice wrapped in naan and baked in the oven, with stretchy cheese inside, so it's one of those dishes that can't help but taste good. It's popular at Rama & Bavana and many people choose it.

What would we order next time?
The salad seems to keep the whole meal from feeling heavy and balances the spices, so even if we come back, we'd definitely reorder it. Our best pick as a couple is, as always, the beef curry.
If you go to Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch, a Daegu spot near Suseong Lake with a great view, with a child, order a dish with shrimp, as kids sitting in baby chairs eat it well, so it's worth a try. Besides Indian food in Daegu, there are Western dishes like pasta too, so everyone in your group should be satisfied. Do visit!
