Seafood platter for two after a walk near Suseong Lake, Daegu

In short

Andamiro is a fresh, source-direct seafood restaurant on Deuran-gil in Suseong-gu, Daegu, a 5-minute walk from Suseong Lake Station. After a Sunday evening walk around Suseong Lake, the writer and her husband ordered the small seafood platter (₩59,000) with soju, and the table overflowed with kimchi pancake, cucumber cold soup, aged flounder sashimi, whole steamed squid, and grilled flatfish before the main platter even arrived. It made for a complete Deuran-gil date night with no need for a second stop.

On a Sunday afternoon that felt distinctly like fall was setting in, my husband and I had a long-overdue date on Deuran-gil. We walked a full loop around Suseong Lake, and when we searched for a good spot to grab dinner and a drink, we found a seafood specialty restaurant right in front of Suseong Lake Station that my husband loves.

Andamiro means "bowls piled up so full they overflow," and true to its name, it's a seafood specialty restaurant serving fresh catch delivered straight from the source every day. It's a great pick for a Suseong-gu seafood spot even for someone like me who's watching my weight.

How far is it from Suseong Lake Station — Andamiro's exterior and parking

Exterior view of Andamiro near Suseong Lake Station

Andamiro is a 5-minute walk from Suseong Lake Station, making it perfect before or after a walk around the lake. It's a corner shop with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, giving it a great sense of openness — a real Deuran-gil favorite. The dark brown wood exterior and clean white sign catch your eye right away.

Parking is available for 2 cars right in front of the restaurant. We took Line 3 since we were combining our trip with a walk around Suseong Lake and drinks.

Andamiro's dining hall with widely spaced tables

The tables are spaced far apart, so it's a great place to chat and enjoy time with friends, a partner, or family.

Andamiro's wall-sized menu board

The menu board fills a whole wall in large lettering, so you can take in every item at a glance — makes ordering easy even with a big group, which is another reason this Deuran-gil spot works well.

The signature dish is a full seafood spread made only with fresh, seasonal ingredients. There's a wide range of side dishes and drinks too, so everyone at the table can find something they like.

Even the free side dishes included kimchi pancake

Complimentary side dishes including cold seaweed cucumber soup and corn salad

The complimentary side dishes included cold seaweed and cucumber soup, corn salad, and cabbage jaerae-gi (a kimchi-style pickle). The refreshing cold cucumber soup felt like an instant hangover cure while drinking, so I somehow felt less drunk than usual and kept the soju coming, haha.

Wow — this is the first place I've been to that serves kimchi pancake as a free side dish. The crispy, thin kimchi pancake was the perfect crispy-outside, tender-inside example. It wasn't too salty either, making it the ideal drinking snack.

The cabbage jaerae-gi, seasoned spicy like kimchi, was a first for me and totally won me over. Paired with the sweet corn salad, it was so good that we'd already finished a whole bottle of soju before the main dish even arrived.

What comes in the small assorted seafood platter

The seafood platter arrived in an absolutely massive size — the serving tray itself was huge, but the seafood spilled over the edges anyway. Sashimi, sea squirt, steamed scallops, whole steamed squid, abalone, horned conch, grilled flatfish, boiled East Sea octopus, sea cucumber, boiled giant conch — it was all there.

Assorted seafood platter piled high on the serving tray

You can tell just by looking that this is fresh, in-season aged flounder sashimi. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth quality of the aged sashimi is a real treat.

Sea squirt really lets you taste the ocean, and when it's this fresh, it's genuinely fragrant. My husband tried one piece and then finished off the whole plate himself — he said the sweetness that builds the more you chew makes the soju go down easily.

Fresh sea squirt

The steamed scallops were moist and had a sweet aroma straight out of the steamer. Of all the steamed shellfish dishes, scallops are the softest and tastiest, and I was glad they gave us scallops on their own.

Whole steamed squid

The nutty aroma of the whole steamed squid kept drawing me back for more — it was almost a shame to see it disappear. It was so fresh that the chewiness and texture were on another level, the kind of dish kids and grandparents alike would love.

Abalone, the ocean's tonic, had a fun, slightly chewy texture that got nuttier the more you chewed. It's delicious plain, but dipping it in the various sauces gives you a whole different flavor experience.

Chewy sliced raw abalone

The horned conch and boiled conch were tasty even without any seasoning. They had a chewier texture than scallops, almost like eating slightly tender meat.

Horned conch and boiled conch

I used to only eat freshly boiled octopus at ancestral rites, so I was surprised to see it on the menu. It was much nuttier and chewier than squid, making it a fantastic drinking snack.

The golden-brown grilled flatfish came out whole. The skin was truly crispy, and the flesh was so soft even a baby could eat it — the kind of dish that makes you want to bring your parents here.

Whole grilled flatfish

The chewy sea cucumber had an even crunchier texture than the abalone, so after all the softer seafood, biting into it was a fun change of pace.

With such a huge variety of seafood, there was no need for a second or third stop — we had a happy Deuran-gil date night right there at Andamiro.
