Namwirye shabu-shabu buffet: salty broth fix, wrap takeout, Dadam
In short
Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is an all-you-can-eat beef shabu-shabu and wolnamssam (Vietnamese-style rice paper wrap) restaurant in Wirye, Seongnam, a 7-minute walk from Namwirye Station Exit 3. The writer had half-spicy, half-clear broth with 3-4 plates of beef brisket and chuck, then pineapple wolnamssam, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), porridge and ice cream cones, and found that broth gone salty from long boiling is best topped up with water rather than more stock. Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch is a good-value pick for family gatherings.

Shabu-shabu (hot pot where you swish thin meat and veggies in broth) is what I think of when I want a healthy meal that still fills me up! I visited Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch (다담샤브샤브&월남쌈 위례점), a Wirye shabu-shabu spot I'd recommend near Namwirye Station~ You get unlimited beef and fresh vegetables, plus wraps and dessert, and I was really satisfied!!
Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch: location, hours and parking
Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is at 45 Wiryegwangjang-ro, Sujeong-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, South Korea (G&G Plaza, 3rd floor, Unit 305). It's open daily 11:00-21:00, with a break from 16:00 to 17:00 and last order at 20:00. You get 2 hours.

It's a 7-minute walk from Namwirye Station Exit 3. Parking is free for up to 3 hours in the same building, I'm told.
What's the seating like?

The inside has tables for 4 and 6, so it looked good for friends, family gatherings or a company dinner! The tables are spaced widely so eating was comfortable, and the whole place felt clean!
Dadam Shabu Shabu buffet prices and how to order

The all-you-can-eat price for adults (middle school and up) is ₩17,900 for weekday lunch and ₩21,900 for weekday dinner, weekends and holidays, with a 2-hour limit. Every table has a tablet, so ordering was easy~ The value was great too, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for a good Wirye restaurant.
Elementary schoolers (grades 1-6) are ₩13,900, preschoolers (ages 4-7) are ₩8,000, and kids under 36 months eat free, so it looked easy on the wallet for a family meal out!
There's just one menu, the buffet, and you only choose the broth: pick 2 of spicy, seafood and clear! I chose spicy and clear and switched between the two flavors~ If you want just one broth, tell the staff!
What's at the self-serve bar?

The self-serve bar had basics like bean sprouts, bok choy, napa cabbage, water dropwort and chives, plus lots of mushrooms: oyster, enoki, king oyster, shiitake and wood ear. After finishing my order on the tablet I headed to the bar, and there was so much that I struggled to decide what to take.. Every item had its name labeled, so it was easy to tell at a glance what was what!

I also liked that you can pick your own tofu, tofu skin, crab and tofu fish balls, fried tofu pouches, lotus root, sweet pumpkin, cheese rice cakes, sweet potato rice cakes, sausages, kimchi dumplings, meat dumplings, sujebi (hand-pulled dough flakes) and ramen noodles.

Wrap ingredients and rice paper
The wrap ingredients are set up separately, with cabbage, cucumber, carrot, beet, perilla leaves, sprouts, imitation crab, pineapple and more, so it was fun to build whatever combination you like! Rice paper is unlimited too, and you take one case per table~ When it's gone, just bring back the rice paper for a refill!

There's a spot for hot water to soften the rice paper and another place to dump the water, which was handy!

Is the meat unlimited too?
Yes, the beef is unlimited at Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch, in two kinds: woosamgyeop (beef brisket) and woomokshim (beef chuck)! Even at shabu-shabu restaurants the meat isn't always all-you-can-eat, so I liked that this one is! And the quality wasn't bad either!! I think I ate 3-4 plates haha

The sauce bar
The sauce bar has 3 sauces: peanut, chili and spicy soy~ Cheongyang chilies (hot green chilies) sit next to them so you can mix your own sauce, and there's kimchi too! I had the spicy soy sauce with cheongyang chili, and the heat suited my taste.

If the broth gets salty, add water instead of stock
If you run low on broth, you can fetch refill broth from the self-serve bar~ But since the ingredients and broth boil for a long time, it got a bit salty..! When that happens, I recommend adding a little water at a time to adjust the strength instead of adding more broth!!

Staff kept refilling empty items and tidying the self-serve bar throughout, so it stayed neat, which I liked~
How to enjoy shabu-shabu properly

I like to put in plenty of vegetables first to make the broth, then add the meat! The brisket had just the right amount of fat, so it was tender and rich, and the chuck was lean, clean and light~

Pineapple in the wraps is the kicker
I made wraps too~ I packed rice paper with the wrap veggies and meat from the salad bar and dipped them in chili sauce, and adding pineapple was the real kicker! The sweetness of the pineapple on top of the savory meat cut the richness, so I never got tired of eating them~

Finishing with kalguksu and porridge
The end of shabu-shabu is always kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and porridge! I had the kalguksu first, then took out some broth for the porridge and added rice, sesame oil, a raw egg, seasoned seaweed and sesame seeds. Finishing like that is so filling..!!
What's for dessert?

Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch has a coffee machine, an ice cream machine and ice cream cones. You can't skip dessert after a meal! No matter how full you are, there's always a separate stomach for dessert, right? haha At another table they added an espresso shot to their ice cream like an affogato..?? I wanted to try that next time! There are cones next to the ice cream machine, so after paying I made an ice cream cone and ate it on my way out, and it was a satisfying meal to the very end!
Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch takeout menu and prices

There's also a takeout menu where you pick the ingredients you want and pay for them!! I liked that you can take only as much as you need~
- Base set: 1 broth (spicy/clear/seafood) + 2 sauces (chili/peanut/spicy soy), ₩3,000 total
- Meat and vegetables can be added as much as you like
- Shabu fried rice and raw eggs can be added too
- Wrap takeout: ₩12,000, includes two sauces and 10 sheets of rice paper
- Minimum takeout order ₩7,900 (see the photo above for details)
I liked that you can enjoy shabu-shabu at home so easily too!!
Dadam Shabu Shabu Wirye Branch: overall verdict

You can fill up on fresh ingredients, and unlimited meat is rare at shabu-shabu places, so I was glad it's offered here! Staff kept the salad bar tidy, and with wraps, kalguksu, porridge and dessert it felt like a full-course meal, so I was very satisfied!!
If you're looking for a good restaurant near Namwirye Station, I especially recommend it for family gatherings!! Give it a try when you're craving a healthy meal~~
