It's the last day of Chuseok~ To all the daughters-in-law across the country, well done, haha^^ As a treat to myself for surviving the holiday, I headed to Gogi 9dan, a restaurant famous in Buk-gu, Daegu. My sister and brother-in-law, my husband and I — the four of us chose Gogi 9dan as our Daegu family gathering spot to wrap up the holiday happily.
A chef with over 30 years of experience personally selects fresh ingredients, then trims and ages them to bring out the best quality beef. It's a beef restaurant in Daegu that gets compliments whenever you pick it for a family gathering.
There's also the budget-friendly Gogi 9dan set if you want to enjoy plenty of beef without much pressure on the wallet.

Inside Gogi 9dan: welcome snack bar and kids' play room

Up on the second floor of Gogi 9dan, there's a stylish waiting sofa alongside a well-stocked welcome snack bar. True to a Buk-gu, Daegu spot with a wait, the waiting area is spacious and comfortable, so even the wait is enjoyable. There's rice crackers, plum tea, fresh brewed coffee, and even a freezer with ice cups.
Right at the entrance is a dedicated beef prep station kept neat and tidy. The white, spotless cutting boards and a beef-only fridge made a strong impression of thorough quality control. No wonder it's known as a beef restaurant in Daegu.

Inside, each table is privately partitioned, but wood-striped window screens keep it from feeling closed in, adding a visual sense of openness.

With such an upscale atmosphere, it's a great Buk-gu, Daegu spot for a special meal with parents or close friends.

The kids' play room has coloring books, game devices, and various toys all neatly arranged. Spotless, without a speck of dust — I loved it.
Paintings line both sides of the hallway to the restroom, giving it the feel of a small gallery.

Side dishes on par with a full Korean course meal
The table was filled with a generous spread of banchan (side dishes). Moist japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), spicy-tangy garlic scape salad topped with nutty sesame seeds, a fresh crisp salad, plump shrimp with broccoli salad, savory gondre namul (thistle greens), crunchy mul kimchi (water kimchi), and even flavor-packed marinated crab~

None of the side dishes were too salty — all seasoned just right, giving it that healthy full-course feel that really made this Buk-gu, Daegu spot stand out. The quality was good enough that even just the basic banchan could make a satisfying meal on its own.
Charcoal-grilled kkotgalbi, dipped in fermented rice yeast salt
Even the charcoal used at Gogi 9dan isn't ordinary. Fist-sized chunks of top-grade charcoal don't scatter dust, keeping things clean, and it makes the beef taste even better.

Just the sizzling sound of beef cooking on the grill grate puts me in a good mood.
Flipped only once over intense charcoal heat, the beef locked in its juices and made us all so happy. Everyone ate in awe.
Dipped especially in Gogi 9dan's special fermented rice yeast salt, the savory flavor explodes, doubling the taste of the meat, and paired with the side dishes, we couldn't stop reaching for more. So happy we got to enjoy such high-quality beef at such an affordable price.

The Gogi 9dan set and kimchi jjigae
For ₩17,000, the Gogi 9dan set comes with hanwoo yukhoe, kimchi jjigae, jjolmyeon, and sushi — perfect in both composition and value, a menu I'd highly recommend ordering. It pairs perfectly with the beef.

The kimchi jjigae loaded with pork, with added ramen noodles and rice stirred in, made the ultimate drinking snack. The broth wasn't salty and had great depth of flavor — totally my style~

The patbingsu served as dessert was seriously amazing. Since it was a family gathering, we were going to head to a café separately afterward, but with iced americano, rice crackers, and patbingsu all provided, we didn't even need to go out.
