Daegu sushi restaurant: sushi-tonkatsu set and takeout, Sushi Naru

I was craving sushi so badly today, it had been ages!! So I headed to Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch (스시나루 영대병원본점), a sushi restaurant in Daemyeong-dong!

Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch is open Monday to Saturday, 11:30-22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 and last order at 21:30. It's at 145 Jungang-daero, Nam-gu, Daegu.

Inside Sushi Naru: good for a date?

The inside is white and wood-toned, warm and tidy, and it works well for a date too! Each table is stocked with utensils, small plates and so on!

To keep the food fresh and tasty, Sushi Naru slices the fish only after you order, so at peak times it may take a little while >_<

Aprons are provided too.

If you write a Naver review, you can pick one of these: 2 pieces of jumbo shrimp tempura, 4 pieces of takoyaki, 2 curry croquettes, 1 soft drink, or 2 pieces of sushi! The Wi-Fi password is posted as well. The restroom is the one at the back of the building!

The signature items include special sushi, assorted fish sushi, premium sushi, assorted sushi and assorted sashimi! (They even list what's in each sushi set, which I loved >_<)

We ordered Set Meal 1 (assorted sushi plus pork tenderloin tonkatsu), sake-don (salmon rice bowl) and takoyaki.

Ta-da! Everything we ordered has arrived >_< (The portions are huge and it all looks so generous, right?!)

Side dishes and the free mini udon

The basic side dishes at Sushi Naru include rakkyo (pickled scallions), salad and more.

A mini udon came out too, and the broth was rich and tasty haha (apparently a mini udon comes free with every main dish, including sushi and meal sets!)

How was the assorted sushi in Set Meal 1?

Let's start with the assorted sushi from Set Meal 1! The flounder and red sea bream both look delicious just from their color, don't they?!

One bite and it was so chewy and full of flavor that the sushi tasted even better >_< The salmon sushi was super soft and practically melted in my mouth! There are two kinds of shrimp sushi, raw shrimp and vinegared shrimp, and I thought both were JMT (insanely good)!

With small squid, egg and inari (tofu pouch) sushi too, it's a really good lineup and made it even more enjoyable :)

Next, the pork tenderloin tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) from Set Meal 1!

Looks crispy at a glance, right?! I took a bite and it was properly crunchy while the meat was tender, so it was JMT too :)

How was the sake-don (salmon rice bowl) at Sushi Naru?

Now let's try the sake-don!

My companion (Semo) had been craving sake-don for ages, so we ordered it, and it looked like the ultimate bowl from the first glance! And the salmon is so soft!

One bite: soft salmon and a lightly salty sauce, which made the sake-don even easier to enjoy!

Takoyaki on the side and sushi to go

Finally, the takoyaki (octopus balls) we ordered as a side: the inside was packed, and the bonito flakes and sauce went together so well! And it was so good that after finishing, we packed up some sushi for Semo's younger sibling too, our little secret :)
