On a rainy evening I suddenly wanted meat so badly, and this is where I went! Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal, a Suseong, Daegu favorite. It's hanwoo but the price isn't as scary as you'd think, so apparently word has already spread (⸝⸝⸝⁼̴́◡⁼̴̀⸝⸝⸝)

Where is Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal, and how's the parking?
Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is at 222 Deuran-ro, Building A, 1st floor, and there's a big private parking lot right next to it. The exterior is neat and easy to spot৵( °͜ °৵)

Best of all was the private parking lot🚗 With a wide lot right beside the restaurant, I could visit with zero parking stress (∿°○°)∿ Lots of Suseong restaurants are tough to park at, so not having to worry about it was great!

A spacious interior for group gatherings and company dinners
Inside, the restaurant was much bigger than I expected! Lots of seats and generous space between tables, so it looked good for group gatherings and company dinners.

There are square tables and round tables, so even though it's a meat restaurant the mood is surprisingly stylish🤎

The tables are well spaced and there are plenty of seats, so it looked great for group gatherings or company dinners. The ventilation is good too, so there was hardly any of that stuffy BBQ-restaurant feeling, which I loved! It also seemed fine for a family meal or a get-together😊

And the owner's thoughtfulness impressed me again🥹 They serve different glasses depending on the type of drink! Not just any glass, but one that suits the drink, which somehow made it taste even better😙🖤 Seeing that kind of attention to small details, you can feel the owner's love for the place✨
Jangpro's menu, and why the hanwoo is so affordable
The signature at Jangpro is of course hanwoo! The prices were way cheaper than I expected, and I was like, "Hanwoo for this price?"😳

They also have meal dishes like doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew), naengmyeon (cold noodles) and steamed rice, which is nice for finishing off after the meat (๑˙❥˙๑)

I wondered why the hanwoo was so cheap, and there was a notice on the wall. Jangpro uses only 100% hanwoo, and to keep prices down it sells a mix of cuts such as flower rib meat (kkotgalbisal), chuck flap (salchisal), rib finger meat (neukgansal) and brisket-style rib (galbiyangji)! So you can enjoy good hanwoo at a fairly reasonable price, they say꜀( ˃ ﹆̬ ˂꜀)
Side dishes, the special meat sauce and the self-serve bar
The side dishes were neatly prepared in a lineup that suits grilled meat: shredded lettuce salad, scallion kimchi, shredded onion, seasoned dipping paste, salt, garlic and more💙 There was also Jangpro's own special meat sauce (yukjang), and it really goes well with the meat •͈ᴗ•͈

There's also a self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant! Lettuce, wrap veggies, side dishes: when you run low you can just grab more without feeling awkward🥬 While eating meat, the scallion salad and sauces vanish fast, so being able to help myself was great! You always end up asking for a refill or two at meat restaurants, so taking just what I needed was even more convenient🤎 The owner was kind and the self-serve bar was kept clean, so it was a pleasant experience😊✨
Hanwoo galbitsal plate (300g) for ₩48,000: how does it taste?
At Jangpro I first ordered the hanwoo galbitsal plate (300g, ₩48,000)! The moment the meat arrived I was amazed😳 Bright red with dense marbling, it looked fresh and delicious just to look at (๑♡ᴗ♡๑)

I put the galbitsal (rib meat) on the charcoal first🔥 The second it touched the grill there was a sizzle and a rich hanwoo aroma rose up, which really got my mouth watering (。♥‿♥。)

Hanwoo really is best grilled over charcoal🥹🔥 With charcoal and hanwoo together you don't have to wait long, either! It cooked to the perfect point in no time, which made my hungry self happy (*˘ ³˘) The galbitsal tasted best when I didn't overcook it and just browned the surface💚

I first tried it without dipping in anything, and the deep, savory flavor typical of hanwoo filled my mouth. The juices seeped out as I chewed, and it was so tender that it didn't feel tough at all😖

The outside was slightly crisp and the inside juicy, so the moment I bit in, juices flooded my mouth and I was amazed🥹 The chewy texture of galbitsal and the richness of the savory fat came together, so the meat flavor got stronger the more I chewed. So I recommend eating your first bite with nothing on it! You immediately taste how good the hanwoo is on its own.
Next I dipped it lightly in salt, and amazingly the flavor of the meat came through even stronger. The salty salt brought out the savoriness and juiciness of the hanwoo, so I could really enjoy the meat's true taste🤎 Personally, I recommend trying your first piece with salt!

Galbitsal with salt or the special meat sauce?
I also dipped it in Jangpro's special meat sauce! If salt brings out the hanwoo's natural savoriness and aroma, the yukjang pushes the umami up another level🤎 It's salty with a faint sweetness and deep flavor, and it pairs well with galbitsal (๑˙❥˙๑)
I started with only salt, but once I tried the yukjang I kept reaching for it🤣 The savory juices of the meat meeting the umami of the yukjang made me think of the next bite every time! Eaten with a cut that has great meaty aroma like galbitsal, the flavor felt even richer꒰◠ .̮◠꒱
Hanwoo sirloin makgui (200g) for ₩23,800: how is it different from galbitsal?
The hanwoo sirloin makgui (200g, ₩23,800) at Jangpro is slightly thicker than the galbitsal, so it had more chew. I ate the galbitsal first, then grilled the sirloin makgui (casually cut, grilled sirloin)!

From the moment it came out I was surprised at how generous it was, like "Is this more than I expected?"😳 It had fine, dense sirloin marbling and a lovely bright red color, so the freshness was obvious at a glance.

On the charcoal a savory aroma rose up, with a different charm from the galbitsal (ᴗˬᴗ) I think sirloin is best when you brown just the surface rather than grilling it too hard♥️

The sirloin is a bit thicker than the galbitsal, so it had a bit more chew! Still, it wasn't tough or dry at all, and the juices flooded my mouth as I chewed. Amazing🤎 Right from the first bite there was a savory aroma and plenty of juice, and the deep hanwoo flavor kept coming as I chewed⸜(♡'ᗜ'♡)⸝ If galbitsal is tender and chewy, sirloin is juicier and gives you a proper meaty bite✨
Hanwoo rib doenjang stew for ₩5,000, with a whole rib bone
The hanwoo rib doenjang stew (₩5,000) at Jangpro comes with a huge rib bone in it, whole. You can't skip doenjang jjigae when eating meat, right?!?

Jangpro's doenjang jjigae is a little different from the usual😊 Even the name is hanwoo rib doenjang jjigae! The look grabs you as soon as it arrives, with a big rib bone in it whole😳 Maybe that's why the broth looked darker and richer ⁽(◍˃̵͈̑ᴗ˂̵͈̑)
When I took a spoonful, the earthy flavor of the doenjang was strong and the deep taste from the hanwoo added to it, so the broth was truly rich🤎 It had plenty of tofu, plus mushrooms and vegetables, so it was loaded. Best of all, there was more hanwoo in it than I expected! The meat in a meat restaurant's doenjang jjigae can be tough or a bit dry, but here the meat was tender and moist, so I enjoyed even the meat in the stew ˊo̴̶̷̤.̮o̴̶̷̤ˋ Taking a sip of hot broth in the middle of eating meat resets your mouth! Honestly, of all the meat restaurants I've been to, this might be the best doenjang jjigae I've had🤍🥰
Verdict: a good-value hanwoo spot for group dinners in Suseong, Daegu?
If you're looking for good-value hanwoo in Suseong, Daegu, I really want to recommend Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal!🥹 Honestly, with hanwoo the price is the first worry, but the prices at Jangpro were more reasonable than I expected, which surprised me✨

And the meat quality doesn't drop at all. I could enjoy well-marbled, juicy hanwoo without worrying, so my satisfaction was top-notch⍢⃝ The galbitsal had a strong meaty aroma and savory flavor, and the sirloin makgui was a bit thicker with a nice chew while the juices filled my mouth, so it was really delicious🫢♥️ The special meat sauce especially was a real treat! It was so good that I dipped almost all my meat in the yukjang🤎 The hanwoo rib doenjang stew I had to finish was also earthy and deep, so you can fully cover both the meat and the meal!
The parking lot is big and the restaurant is pleasant and spacious, so I'd recommend it for family meals, company dinners and group gatherings😊 If you want to enjoy hanwoo without too much pressure, give Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal in Suseong, Daegu a visit (。☌ᴗ☌。)
