On days when I'm going out for beef, my steps just feel lighter for some reason. Normally I agonize over picking a lunch spot, but somehow mentioning beef makes the decision come together fast. 😆

This time I visited Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu. I found it while looking for a good beef spot in Chimsan-dong, and it turned out to be a grill house good for everything from lunch to evening gatherings.

What especially caught my eye was the menu item called the 9dan set. I liked that it let you enjoy several kinds of meat at once, and I was curious what the actual spread would look like. Since beef isn't cheap, you naturally start caring not just about the taste but also the atmosphere and how comfortable the place is to eat in.

So this time I documented everything — parking, the interior, the menu, and the actual meal — at Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch.

Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is located at 197 Chimsannam-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu, on the 2nd floor. Park in the spacious dedicated lot on the 1st floor, then take the stairs up.

Walking into Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch, I could already feel an upscale atmosphere. Each table had its own partition, which I liked for the sense of separation from the next table over.

Off to one side, cuts of meat neatly laid out naturally caught my eye. I hadn't even eaten yet, but my anticipation was already climbing 😋

Thanks to arriving early, we got a window seat.

Menu and prices: beef cuts and the 9dan set

They had everything from skirt steak and flower short rib to "emperor" short rib strip, plus fresh galbi and honey-aged galbi. You could order a full platter, or split it into half portions to try several cuts.

What especially caught my eye was the ultimate value pick — the 9dan set! 🤭 For ₩18,000 you get 80g of hanwoo yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), pork kimchi jjigae, jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles), fresh wasabi, and sushi. I'd always thought beef felt a bit much for lunch, but a set like this is worth keeping in mind 😊

There was also bibimbap and naengmyeon available to order after the meat, so plenty of choices for a full meal.

Side dishes at Gogi 9dan: japchae and seasoned raw crab

The banchan (side dishes) at Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch started arriving one by one. Quite the variety too.

Among the side dishes, the japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) and the crab dish stood out most. It was nice to see japchae at a beef restaurant, and it looked appetizing with the noodles and vegetables mixed in evenly. Seasoned crab came along too, making the spread feel even richer. Even before the meat arrived, there was already fun in picking through the sides. 😊

How do the skirt steak and flower short rib half platters taste?

Finally, the beef we'd been waiting for! Skirt steak and flower short rib arrived beautifully arranged on a wooden board. Marbling was visible through the thick-cut slices, and with the big king oyster mushrooms alongside, the anticipation only grew from the look of it. Time to put it on the charcoal! 😋

I alternated between the skirt steak and the flower short rib, and both were more tender than expected. Even though the beef was cut thick, one bite gave a juicy texture through and through. Nothing to complain about with either cut — I was glad we'd ordered half platters of each. If we'd only gotten one cut, I'd have been disappointed for sure. 😋

What comes in the ₩18,000 9dan set

While the beef was mid-grill, the 9dan set arrived. Hanwoo yukhoe, jjolmyeon, fresh wasabi, and sushi were all laid out, with the pork kimchi jjigae served separately.

The yukhoe portion was generous, and with the red-sauced jjolmyeon on the side, it paired well with the grilled meat. The kimchi jjigae came in its own pot, kept simmering hot. All this for ₩18,000 — the 9dan set really earns its name as a value-packed set 🤭

Dessert at Gogi 9dan: patbingsu and coffee

After filling up on beef and the 9dan set, I made sure to finish with patbingsu for dessert.

Even with patbingsu for dessert, coffee was still a must~ ☕️

Having enjoyed everything from the meat to dessert so thoroughly, I couldn't help thinking there must be a reason this place has so many awards. 😊

Is Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch worth it?

If you're looking for a place to eat beef in Chimsan-dong, Daegu, Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is worth remembering. We ordered half platters of skirt steak and flower short rib, and both cuts were tender and juicy — very satisfying.

What stood out most, though, was the ₩18,000 9dan set! With hanwoo yukhoe, jjolmyeon, pork kimchi jjigae, and sushi all included, it was a hearty complement to the grilled meat. After finishing the meal, we topped it off properly with patbingsu and coffee. ☕️

The interior was clean and the seating was well separated, which made it feel suitable for family meals or gatherings too. A meal that covered beef, the main course, and dessert all in one — this is a place I'll think of again whenever beef comes to mind in Chimsan-dong. 😊
