Why I went for a Siznique mango cake

I went looking for this Siznique mango cake because I missed the Sungsimdang mango cake I ate while pregnant. When I was expecting Dungdung, I absolutely loved that cake.....? Out of nowhere I was desperate for it that day, searched for mango cake, and Siznique's mango cake looked so good!

Siznique is famous for fruit cakes.... and the most famous series is the Wareureu ("tumbling down") farm cakes...! Fresh seasonal fruit spills over the top, so I thought it would be perfect for a special day! I rushed straight to Shinsegae in Daegu!

Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch is on B1 of Shinsegae Department Store in Daegu, in Sweet Park, the dessert floor. Hours are Mon–Thu 10:30–20:00 and Fri–Sun 10:30–20:30. The address is 149 Dongbu-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, South Korea.

Just look for this Siznique sign in Sweet Park.

The Siznique display case: torn between mango cake and Wareureu cake

Ahh....... honestly I came running for just one mango cake, but the other cakes kept catching my eye, and deciding was really hard.....

They all looked so delicious, eeek!

I was so torn between the Mango Wareureu Cake and the regular mango cake... the top row in this video is the Wareureu cake!

Only a few Wareureu cakes were left when I went! I can see why Wareureu is so famous, haha. They're really pretty....

There was also a cake with mango on top of strawberries. I hesitated a little, but in the end I chose the mango cake.....!

The Montang fresh cream cake looked really good too, but it wasn't in the shop when I visited.

Siznique cake sizes and packaging

For Siznique cake sizes, the smallest is Mini, and the next is No. 1. Dungdung's mom picked the No. 1 mango cake!

And so I carefully brought (?) the Siznique mango cake home...!

I had a bit of a trip home, so they put in an ice pack!

The group ahead of me was going somewhere over an hour away, so they put their cake in a cooler bag.

What the Siznique mango cake looks like

Isn't it pretty? The Siznique mango cake had rosemary stuck in it, and the green and yellow together looked lovely.

The shimmering mango cake in all its glory....! Time to try a slice, hehe. But pretty things deserve a closer look..... the whole top "lid" (?) is packed with mango...♡ My cake-loving heart is pounding again...!

How did the Siznique mango cake taste?

Siznique cakes use animal-based cream, which Dungdung's mom loves!

It melts away in your mouth and the texture is really soft. There are 3 sponge layers in total, but they're pressed down and dense between the mango and the cream, so if you eat just the top part it feels almost like eating pure mango, hahahaha.

The downside: I wished for a bit more sponge

People who love mango will probably love this Siznique mango cake even more....! But I actually like sponge too, haha, so I wish there had been a bit more sponge!

A mango cake for a special day

Ah.... the weather was gloomy today, but with the coffee I bought, this sweet, cool cake was so good. A delicious dessert like this on a special day makes all the worries in the world disappear......!

Mango cake always makes me think of my pregnancy. Pregnancy was sometimes hard on my body and mind, but to think this cute little creature came out of my belly... (going all the way to Daejeon just for bread, honestly.....) But now I don't have to go to Daejeon, because I can enjoy a delicious mango cake at Siznique in Daegu Shinsegae....! A special day, a Siznique cake ♡
