I had a three-day weekend from Saturday to Monday and was trying to figure out how to spend it well, so I decided to go watch the currently popular Odyssey! 😆 I booked tickets at the Megabox in Shinsegae Department Store, and since I wanted brunch for lunch, I went looking for options and spotted Baut, a café near Dongdaegu Station famous for its brunch 👀✨ Pretty interior, delicious sandwiches — Baut checked every box. Here's my review 💙

Where is Baut, and how far is it from Dongdaegu Station Exit 2?

Baut, the Dongdaegu brunch café, sits near the station and the transit complex! Come out of Exit 2 and head into the alley across the street, and you'll find the atmospheric three-story building that houses Baut 😊 It's also a great stop before or after shopping at Shinsegae Department Store 👍

🚗 Parking around Dongdaegu Station is genuinely tricky, but Baut has its own private parking lot, so you can drive there and relax without worrying about it 😉

A three-story café in Daegu with a different mood on each floor

Baut is a huge café spanning three whole floors! The moment I opened the door, the sunlight pouring in through the massive picture windows and the open, airy feel were so charming!

The black-and-white tones gave it a modern yet edgy vibe, and the second and third floors were just as clean, with little decorative pieces scattered around that added to the mood 👏 There's even a group table on the third floor, which looked perfect for gatherings with several people!

🚻 The restrooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors — there's none on the 3rd! They were spotless too, which I really liked (*ˊᵕˋ*)ﾉ

• 🥣 Cauliflower potato cream soup: smooth, savory cream soup paired with crispy baguette

There were so many great options that I had a hard time deciding what to order!! (Ꙩꙻ₀Ꙩꙻ)

🍰 Besides drinks and brunch, there was also a dessert menu — a weekend-only cinnamon bun, chocolate gateau, blueberry cheesecake, and banana pudding, all looking delicious, which made for a very happy dilemma 😍

The crispy ciabatta sandwich, the golden, perfectly grilled cheese toast, and the cinnamon bun topped with sweet ice cream!! The presentation was seriously amazing ദ്ദി ˃ ᴗ ˂ ) It had been a while since I enjoyed such a hearty brunch, and I was excited even before taking a bite 💛

How the drinks taste: Americano, Baut coffee and white tea

I started with the Americano — clean with a subtle nutty depth! It paired really well with the rich-flavored brunch items like the sandwich and cheese toast, cleansing the palate nicely 😊

The signature Baut coffee is served with a smooth, thin layer of cream over a rich latte base! Can you tell how thick and chewy that cream texture looks!?

If you drink it without stirring, you get the chewy, sweet cream first, followed by a bitter coffee finish — not overly sweet, just a pleasant sweetness, so it stays enjoyable all the way to the last sip 🤎

The warm white tea had blended pineapple and cranberry notes, and the aroma alone was wonderful 🍵 No astringency at all — just a subtle fruity scent and clean tea flavor that paired beautifully with brunch! And since it's caffeine-free, you can drink it without worry! Now let's get into the brunch 😋💚

Ciabatta sandwich, 11,000 won: sweet-and-savory blueberry jam

First, the ciabatta sandwich: crispy on the outside, chewy inside, and packed with fresh ingredients! One bite gives you the salty prosciutto ham and fragrant basil pesto, plus sweet blueberry jam layered in for a perfect sweet-and-savory combo 💜 The crisp fresh tomato and romaine made it even better ෆ'ᴗ'ෆ

Grilled cheese toast, 11,500 won: the spicy house sauce steals the show

Next up, the grilled cheese toast!! (๓´﹃`๓) Golden, crispy sourdough packed with savory cheese and bacon — the more you chew, the richer the flavor gets 💛 It comes with a spicy house-made sauce and peperoncino on the side, and honestly, that's the real highlight of this toast, everyone!😆

Dip it into the sauce and peperoncino, and it cuts right through the cheese's richness while adding a spicy, clean umami kick 🤤 I really recommend ordering this one 👍

You have to see the cheese pull on this grilled cheese toast 👀✨ Look how much cheese is packed in there — the way it stretches is seriously amazing!? 🧡

Weekend-only cinnamon bun with two scoops of ice cream

After enjoying our brunch, we finished with a sweet cinnamon bun and ice cream! 💛 I usually love the smell of cinnamon, so I had high expectations for this one ᐠ( ᐢ ᵕ ᐢ )ᐟ They pile on two whole scoops of ice cream — just looking at it felt like a sugar boost 🥰

Splitting the cinnamon bun in half revealed layers of cinnamon filling soaked through moist bread — it looked so good! Top it with a generous scoop of sweet vanilla ice cream and you'll feel like you've reached heaven 👼🤍 The vanilla ice cream especially was so good I wanted to know where it was from.. haha („• ֊ •„)੭

It had been a long time since I had such a delicious, hearty brunch, and I really enjoyed every bite 😋💙 I'm definitely planning to come back 🖐
