Daegu Dongchon rooftop bar with old-style patbingsu: Eomuk Pocha Tong
In short
Eomuk Pocha Tong is a rooftop fish cake stew bar newly opened on the 4th floor of the Seoksan Bokeo building at Dongchon Recreation Area in Dong-gu, Daegu. The order was an assorted fish cake stew with a 300 draft beer and old-style patbingsu (shaved ice with red bean) to finish, plus kimchi pancake, old-school snacks and cabbage salad as free side dishes, all in an open-air pocha mood. Both the outdoor rooftop seating and the indoor room at Eomuk Pocha Tong feel good, so it works for dates and big group nights alike.

I went to "Eomuk Pocha Tong," famous as the outdoor pocha (street-tent-style bar) fish cake stew spot at Dongchon Recreation Area in Daegu. 🍢
Yaaaay~~~ let's go~♡
Eomuk Pocha Tong hours, parking and how to find the 4th floor
Eomuk Pocha Tong is open Monday through Sunday from 16:00 to 01:00, with a regular closed day on the last Sunday of every month. Takeout, delivery, reservations, and group bookings are all available, plus separate men's/women's restrooms, easy pay, and parking 🅿️.
Wow~ haven't seen a yajang (outdoor tent-style seating) like this in decades!! ^the vibe is so gooooood———————^
Parking 🅿️: On-site parking available, valet also possible.
Location 📍: 4th floor of the Seoksan Bokeo building at Dongchon Recreation Area — take the elevator up, then head to the back on the right.

Eomuk Pocha Tong: a spot with a spacious indoor area, great night views, a full rooftop, and atmosphere to match — a fish cake stew place with it all.
• The famous Eomuk Pocha Tong from Buk-gu just newly opened at Dongchon Recreation Area.

What's on the menu at Eomuk Pocha Tong
Menu: starting with the signature assorted fish cake, seafood fish cake, and Busan fish cake (half-and-half broth), plus set menus great for 3–4 people, and a variety of side dishes — the drinks go down way too easy!

Since it's a yajang spot known for its outdoor vibe in Dongchon, of course we had to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere?!

Free side dishes and what we ordered
Basic side dishes: crispy-yet-moist kimchi pancake with seasoning sauce, old-school snacks, cabbage salad, and cold water. What we ordered: assorted fish cake stew, 300 draft beer, and old-style patbingsu (shaved ice dessert).
🍻The draft beer came out first, so of course we toasted right away~

How does the assorted fish cake stew taste?
✔️Assorted fish cake stew: this is the signature dish of the cooking pocha, boasting a hearty seafood broth with a spicy, refreshing kick. On top of a basic anchovy broth loaded with mussels, crab, and bean sprouts — the clean broth is a standout.
Rice cake sticks, boiled eggs, konjac, and chewy Busan fish cake skewers make for a really generous portion. Especially the crunchy bean sprouts — placing them on top of the fish cake was pure bliss. Plus the portion is massive, so barely a drink in and you're already thinking about hangover cure mode?!! Haha. Hands just keep reaching for it.

The plump eggs were also pretty big, so we each ate one whole before starting. Haha. The Busan fish cake was so good we got so absorbed eating that there aren't more photos~📸???;; It's like magic how the drinks keep disappearing!

Finishing with old-style patbingsu
The old-style patbingsu (shaved ice dessert) that Wanggusul-ssi wanted to try~ just look at that visual!!

Old-style patbingsu: shaved ice piled high with canned red bean, topped generously with misugaru (roasted grain powder) and cereal, and finished off neatly with condensed milk. 🍧
As pretty as it looks, the old-style patbingsu had ice that crunched with a lingering coldness that gave a weirdly satisfying thrill~ haha. We ordered it right as we were finishing up the fish cake stew, so it made for a really tasty dessert. Made us go, wait, when did we even drink?? Hahaha!

Rooftop smoking room and the indoor seating
Smoking room: interestingly, this yajang rooftop spot had a separate smoking room. A proper smoking zone for those who need it~👍👍

Indoors: the rooftop was great, but the interior atmosphere and decor were also so good that I want to try the indoor seating next time.
The indoor vibe is pretty great too, right?^_^

✔️With a variety of table setups, it's great for everything from dates to group gatherings.

✔️Men's/women's restrooms: the separated restrooms are kept clean, with good water pressure and plenty of hand wash and hand towels, so it was a pleasant experience.
There were also fun posters to look at while we were at it.
Is Eomuk Pocha Tong worth a visit?
From the basic side dishes to the main menu, everything is put together generously and is a pleasure to enjoy. 💓With friendly service, a cozy atmosphere, and even a hip vibe on top of it all — I highly recommend "Eomuk Pocha Tong." Thanks to the truly, truly kind owner, we had such a fun and delightful time.
