Daegu riverside pocha with pork cutlet tteokbokki: Eomuk Pocha Tong
In short
Eomuk Pocha Tong is an outdoor-table pocha (Korean pub) near Dongchon Resort by the Geumho River in Dong-gu, Daegu. After a riverside walk, the writer ordered the signature Busan fish cake set (43,000 won), which pairs Busan fish cake stew with pork cutlet tteokbokki, then finished with old-style patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans) for 9,000 won. Bubbling fish cake stew, cold beer and the river breeze made Eomuk Pocha Tong an easy summer-night stop.

Wondering where to go with this cool weather lately? A while back I was strolling through Dongchon Resort and got pulled in by the vibe of a place I stumbled on — it was so good I had to share it with you. This is Eomuk Pocha Tong, the ultimate outdoor pocha bar in Daegu's Dongchon Resort area!

Why Eomuk Pocha Tong's outdoor tables suit a walk around Dongchon Resort
Eomuk Pocha Tong sits near the Geumho River at Dongchon Resort, so it's the perfect stop after a walk. The indoor tables are clean and tidy, but this season, the mood-filled outdoor tables are really the best!

Sitting under soft lighting with the river breeze blowing, the drinks just went down smoothly. It's great for a noisy get-together with friends, and honestly pure romance for a date too.
On nice-weather days the outdoor tables get busy, so I'd recommend arriving early around sunset. The menu is huge, so it works great as a full meal-and-drinks first round, or a light second-round spot with udon or dried pollock and cold beer.

The free starter: kimchi pancake

The complimentary side dish was kimchi pancake, and that's exactly my kind of thing.

Busan fish cake set with pork cutlet tteokbokki, 43,000 won

We ordered the Busan Fish Cake Set (₩43,000), supposedly the signature best combo!

It came with deep, spicy Busan fish cake stew alongside sweet-and-spicy pork cutlet tteokbokki topped with crispy cutlet — a perfect sweet-salty-spicy combo.

A sip of the fish cake broth followed by a bite dipped deep into the spicy tteokbokki sauce made an unbeatable pairing with soju or draft beer.
You really have to try the fish cake stew! It comes out in a huge pot, practically overflowing with ingredients — overwhelming just to look at.

Beyond the skewered fish cake, there's crab, mussels, and plump chunky radish plus crunchy bean sprouts all packed in to build a deep, refreshing broth.

The longer it simmers on the burner, the richer the broth gets from the crab, radish, and bean sprouts. The umami is incredible — one spoonful and you instantly know it's perfect with soju.

The fish cake stayed chewy and never got soggy — dipped lightly in soy sauce, the umami spread across my whole mouth. Simmering the hot broth at an outdoor table with cold beer was pure healing, washing away all the fatigue.
Finishing with old-style patbingsu, 9,000 won

After finishing the meal, we had patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans) to wrap things up — sweet, cool, and so good. The outdoor pocha vibe was seriously on point.

If you're looking for an atmospheric outdoor pocha bar in Daegu, definitely check out Eomuk Pocha Tong at Dongchon Resort!
