Siznique (시즈니크) is a Daegu cake spot whose signature is the 'Wareureu cake' series, topped with so much seasonal fruit it looks like it just came tumbling down. This time I tried the summer 'Melon Farm Wareureu' cake 🍈💚

I happened to have a family gathering in Daegu that evening and wanted an anniversary cake! Siznique's fruit Wareureu cakes are famous, right? The look caught my eye. These are fruit-bomb fresh fruit cakes made with seasonal fruit that seems to overflow, and the one I tried was the summer Melon Farm Wareureu cake 👀🤤

Where is Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch?

Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch is in Sweet Park on B1 of Shinsegae Department Store Daegu (149 Dongbu-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, South Korea). The shop is right in front of the central escalator in the department store, so just head for the escalator and you'll find it easily!!

The showcase is full of colorful cakes, so you'll probably spot it at a glance. Even as a first-timer, I found it right away haha

Siznique's summer-only melon cake

On the day I visited, melon cake seemed to be the star haha. It's a melon season cake you can only have in summer!! Summer melon is just so good.. They say the musk melons are even left to ripen after harvest to reach peak sweetness.

Peeling and cutting a melon is a hassle, but melon someone else has cut prettily? Ahh.. lovely..

How much are the cakes at Siznique Daegu?

Here are the cakes and prices I saw in the Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch showcase on the day I visited. The Melon Farm Wareureu was ₩60,000.

Cake prices are steep even at franchises these days.. With this much fresh fruit packed in!! it doesn't feel like a waste.

Weekday afternoon stock: do you need to reserve?

I went on a weekday afternoon and only some mango and melon cakes were left, wow. Customers kept coming before and after me, so I really felt how popular Siznique is among Daegu cake shops. If you have a particular cake in mind, I recommend reserving it or going early!

How does Siznique package its cakes?

Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch packed the cake in a cooler bag with plenty of ice packs. It made it home cold and in great shape ~_~

They included candles too, so I'd recommend it as a birthday or anniversary cake in Daegu!! 🎂

How did the Melon Farm Wareureu taste?

The cake I bought was~~~~~~ the Melon Farm Wareureu! Melon literally tumbling down.. I think the name is so cute 😖 A fresh fruit cake that doesn't hold back on the melon at all, and how was it•••

There are lots of chunky melon pieces inside the Melon Farm Wareureu too. The fresh cream is soft and the sponge is moist haha. The melon wasn't mushy but in good condition, so it didn't spoil the cake, if that makes sense?

The melon, cream and sponge didn't feel like separate things; they blended together smoothly. However much I ate it never got greasy, so I gulped it down in no time.. The grown-ups enjoyed it too! They loved the Wareureu look as well haha

For an anniversary or birthday cake that looks perfect from the first glance, I recommend Siznique, a Daegu cake favorite ‼️💚 Next time I'll want the mango, and in other seasons the strawberry or mandarin cake too. That was Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch!!
