Why I visited Momentium, a Manchon-dong hair salon in Daegu, while pregnant

As soon as I reached the stable stage of pregnancy, I dashed off to Momentium, a hair salon in Manchon-dong, Daegu. Once I got pregnant, my skin went haywire and my hair turned dry and frizzy, so I was stressed every time I looked in the mirror.

I held out and held out, and the moment my OB-GYN gave me the okay, I booked and went right away! It had been so long since I'd treated myself that I was thrilled even before I got there. 🥰

Momentium location and opening hours

Momentium is at 42 Cheongho-ro 96-gil, Suseong-gu, Daegu, on the 1st floor. It's closed every Monday, and it's open 10:00 - 19:30 (Saturday until 19:00).

How to get to Momentium from Manchon Station, and parking

So that even people with no sense of direction can find it, here's how to come by public transport or by car.

• Subway: From Manchon Station Exit 3, cross the crosswalk toward Suseong University, then go straight down the alley next to the 'Bbangjangsu Danpatbbang' shop (a red bean bun bakery), and it's on your right.
• Bus: Get off at the 'Manchon Seohan Forest' stop and turn into the alley just before the 7-Eleven convenience store. You'll see it right next to the left side of 'Early Boutique Café' straight ahead!
• Car: The public parking lot behind L Cru Gaudium Manchon (849-6 Manchon-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu) is convenient.

Is Momentium a one-stylist salon that needs a reservation?

Yes, Momentium is run by one stylist on her own, so booking before you visit is a must! Since she looks after you one-on-one, I felt more pampered and relaxed.

Inside Momentium and the shampoo room

The inside of Momentium was really clean and pretty. The waiting area is small but full of charm, and the shampoo room is cozy and atmospheric, so having my hair washed felt like pure healing. On one side of the salon, the stylist also sells the good products she uses in her treatments!

How did the straight perm go for a pregnant customer at Momentium?

The treatment I got at Momentium was a straight perm (jikbeom)! A straight perm gives great curls but can do a lot of damage to your hair, right? My hair had already gotten frizzy after pregnancy, so I was really worried, but the stylist took into account that I'm pregnant and generously loaded in the nutrition!

Step 1: A light layered cut

First, she tidied up the line with a light cut, adding simple layers.

Step 2: Protein treatment before the perm

Next, since my hair frizzes easily, she soaked in plenty of protein treatment before the perm went on.

Step 3: Rolls and the straight perm, about 2 hours

She rolled my hair carefully and the perm went on. (I think the whole thing took about 2 hours!)

While I waited, I enjoyed a sweet peach iced tea and some snacks :)

Step 4: pH treatment in the shampoo room after neutralizing

After the neutralizer step, she moved me to the shampoo room and did a 'pH treatment'. She kindly explained that it's an important step that removes the alkaline residue left in your hair after a perm.

Home styling tips after the straight perm, and how I felt about it

To finish, the Momentium stylist kindly showed me how to style my hair easily at home, so even a klutz like me should be able to manage. She's really calm, and she looked after me carefully the whole time, so my body and mind were both at ease.

Since getting pregnant I hadn't had a proper change of mood, but now that my hair looks pretty again, I feel like I could fly 🎈
