Pizza dipped in pumpkin soup at a Gijang outlet restaurant: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Restaurant is a kid-friendly Western restaurant on the first floor of the NORTH building at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets in Gijang, Busan. On a holiday shopping trip with a friend, the writer ordered pumpkin soup (8,000 won), basil pesto cream pasta (18,000 won) and arugula prosciutto pizza (22,000 won); the soup made from fresh kabocha squash and the cream pasta topped with a poached egg stood out. Bueokgan Restaurant is a reliable lunch spot before or after shopping at the Busan Shinsegae outlet.

Where to eat lunch while shopping at the Shinsegae outlet in Busan?
For lunch at the Shinsegae outlet in Gijang, Busan, we picked Bueokgan Restaurant (부엌간레스토랑), a Western restaurant inside the outlet. It's right along the shopping route, so it works before or after shopping, and it's kid-friendly, so it's also good with children.
My friend and I are shopping mates. And we especially love going to the Shinsegae outlet in Busan. We went again this holiday, of course. We're such a good match when we shop together... we egg each other on to spend, haha. We bought a lot of things that day and came home loaded.
They say even Mt. Kumgang is better after a meal, and one of the most important parts of shopping is a good lunch!!!! The Gijang lunch spot we chose this time was Bueokgan Restaurant. The Western menu is varied and everything was tasty, so we left very happy.

Bueokgan Restaurant interior and seating

The first thing you see when you walk in is the waiting area! It has plush sofas with a real Nordic vibe~!

Can you bring kids? Baby chairs and toddler tableware available
Bueokgan is a kid-friendly restaurant with both baby chairs and toddler tableware ready!! On the day we visited, several strollers were parked there.

Each table has its own light, which makes for a nice mood. The classy wooden tables give the whole place a solid, weighty feel.

Seating that even includes a group table for 8
There were about 10 four-person tables and maybe 1 two-person table!

There's even a group table that seats a whopping 8 people, so even if your whole family comes shopping over the holidays, you can all eat comfortably at the same table.

The little props and plants here and there were super pretty too. Come have a meal at this stylish Gijang lunch spot~~
How to order at Bueokgan and what we picked
You can view the menu on the tablet at your table and order right there in one go. You pay at the counter, though! We ordered the pumpkin soup, basil pesto cream pasta and arugula prosciutto pizza.

All our food has arrived!! The soup came out first and the mains followed almost at the same time!!
Pumpkin soup (₩8,000): worth ordering as a starter?

The pumpkin soup (단호박스프) is ₩8,000, and they say it's made in-house from fresh pumpkin. The color alone is gorgeous. They also thoughtfully brought a small plate for sharing.

You scoop a portion with the big spoon and eat it with your own spoon, so it's hygienic : )

One bite and wow, so good!! At this Gijang lunch spot, definitely order the soup as a starter~~ Sweet pumpkin flavor with a creamy texture, just great. We scraped the bowl clean. Some bread to go with it would've made it even better!!
Basil pesto cream pasta with poached egg (₩18,000): how does it taste?

The basil pesto cream pasta is ₩18,000. I'd never had basil pesto pasta with cream before, but Bueokgan combines the two!

It's topped with a poached egg, which you break and mix in. A signature dish!!

This is totally my style~.~ It tastes like a place that really does Western food well, even among Gijang lunch spots!! Twirl the noodles and eat them with a little arugula and tomato, and this place becomes pure bliss~~
Arugula prosciutto pizza (₩22,000): how's the dough?

The arugula prosciutto pizza is ₩22,000. I'm the arugula fanatic around here. Arugula is a must-have ingredient even on pizza.

Take a slice before it gets cold and the cheese stretches out so long!

The pizza here has thin dough, so it isn't heavy, and the overall flavor is clean and mild!! Don't throw away the crust ends; dip them in the pumpkin soup > <
Verdict: Bueokgan Restaurant is a good lunch at the Busan Shinsegae outlet
- It's inside the outlet, so it's perfectly convenient before or after shopping
- Baby chairs and toddler tableware are all ready, so it's great with kids too
- Order Bueokgan's signature dishes and you'll probably leave satisfied with no misses
- Downside: some bread to start would have been nice
I totally recommend Bueokgan Restaurant as a Busan Shinsegae outlet eatery! I come shopping here at least once a month, so I think I'll stop by for meals often!
