Date café near Songdo Dalbit Park: Nuts Einspänner at Standard Square

On the day I stopped in Songdo on my way home, I went to Standard Square, a Songdo café, for a meal and a cup of coffee. It's a café where you can enjoy great coffee along with Standard Square's own desserts like scoop cakes and cookies :D

What's the atmosphere and space like at Standard Square in Songdo?

Standard Square stands out with its blue-themed exterior, and the inside is bigger than it looks from outside, so seating felt roomy. The exterior won me over right away. Maybe it's extra true because blue is my favorite color, hehe. From the street I thought the café was small, but there was more space further in.

I really hate bugs, but a summer view with lush green trees is so nice. Dalbit Park is right near Standard Square, so it seemed like a good spot for a stroll on a nice day. There's a coffee grinder by the entrance, and they also sell a variety of beans.

I heard Standard Square started as the Songdo café and now runs four spaces, including Bupyeong, a cookie lab and a coffee lab. Apparently they roast beans themselves with a big roaster at the coffee lab and sell them in the store - haha.

Does Standard Square have many kinds of scoop cake?

Standard Square's scoop cakes come in lots of varieties, so people living near Songdo could try them one by one like a challenge. I had my eye on the scoop cake even before visiting. A Songdo café known for tasty desserts - of course I can't skip dessert! The look of it is seriously so pretty.. 🥹

I heard Standard Square also sells new specialty coffee every week. These are the three things I ordered that day.

There were really tasty-looking cookies on display and I wavered for a moment, lol, but I stuck to the plan of having cake - next time I visit Standard Square I'm definitely trying a cookie.

What does Standard Square's Nuts Einspänner taste like?

Standard Square's Nuts Einspänner is a signature cream coffee: a sweet café latte topped with thick, rich nut cream. The aroma and flavor of peanut butter give it a hefty backbone, and the combination was really good.

These days it feels like an einspänner (cream-topped coffee) is almost a signature at every café. Standard Square had three cream coffees and I picked the Nuts Einspänner. Many reviews mentioned it, and sure enough, it lived up to being the signature drink +_+

Can you choose the americano beans?

At Standard Square you can choose the beans for your americano, and since I don't like acidity, I picked the nutty Standard Blend. It's a medium-dark roast that's nutty yet full-bodied, exactly the taste I like.

What's the texture of the chocolate scoop cake?

Standard Square's chocolate scoop cake is loaded with chocolate and loaded with cream, so chocolate lovers will definitely like it! Unlike what I expected, the cake layer wasn't soft but dense like pound cake, and it went well with the smooth cream.

Personally I usually like moist cake layers, but this one... has its charm, lol. They seem to have seasonal items besides the regular menu too, so I'd love to visit again and try other cakes -

Is Standard Square in Songdo worth another visit?

Standard Square was a Songdo café with great coffee and desserts. The staff were friendly, and I was happy with the atmosphere and the taste. I dropped by Songdo on a whim on the way home from a trip, and with a tasty meal and coffee, the date wrapped up - the end 💙
