Gangnam ramen restaurant counter seats and mixed tsukune: Oreno Ramen
In short
Oreno Ramen Gangnam is a Japanese ramen restaurant on Teheran-ro 1-gil near Gangnam Station in Seoul, where the signature dish is tori paitan, a rich chicken-broth ramen. Seated at the counter, the writer had tori paitan at 13,000 won with a 1,000 won soft-boiled egg, plus mixed tsukune (chicken meatball skewers) at 5,000 won and Sapporo draft beer at 6,000 won, and free refills of noodles, rice and side dishes kept the meal generous for a big eater. A favourite since the writer was 20, the pairing of thick broth and thin noodles at Oreno Ramen Gangnam still ranks first.

I wanted to introduce Oreno Ramen, a ramen restaurant I've genuinely loved since I was 20. If you're into ramen, you've probably heard of it — I like it so much I sometimes wonder if it's better than what I've had in Japan, haha. Here's my review of Oreno Ramen Gangnam!

Counter seats and the mood inside Oreno Ramen Gangnam
Walking into Oreno Ramen Gangnam, the open kitchen catches your eye first. It keeps the distinct feel of a Japanese ramen shop while staying clean and well managed, which I appreciated. I sat at the counter seat this time. Besides the counter, there are plenty of regular tables too, and the space itself is fairly large — a good spot to eat near Gangnam Station. There's also a restroom inside, which was convenient, and the food came out pretty quickly.

Free refills of noodles, rice and side dishes
The biggest perk of Oreno Ramen! You can refill noodles, rice, and side dishes for free. Being able to refill even the ramen noodles themselves is a big win for anyone with a bigger appetite. Every time I go to Oreno Ramen, this is the part I love the most, haha.

Tori paitan: a rich chicken-broth ramen
When you think of Oreno Ramen, tori paitan is the first thing that comes to mind. 🍜🍜🍜 It's known for its rich, savory broth simmered from chicken — pale, creamy, and intense-looking even just from the visuals.
⭐✨️Of all the ramen I've eaten, this is easily my number one⭐️✨

A perfect match with Asahi beer 🍻🍺 The broth is incredibly smooth, savory, and rich, and the noodles are just as good 😋 There's a generous amount of wood ear mushroom and green onion, adding texture along the way. The scent of the green onion really pairs well with the rich chicken broth, haha.

The noodles are thin and springy! That combination of broth and noodle is exactly why I've loved Oreno Ramen for so long.

Why the soft-boiled egg add-on is worth 1,000 won
I love soft-boiled eggs, and Oreno Ramen is basically a soft egg hotspot,, cut it in half and the yolk is still not fully set — moist and thick. The yolk looks like it could run out at any moment, soft and seasoned just right, pairing perfectly with the ramen broth. Dip it lightly in the rich chicken broth and it's even more savory.

Sapporo draft beer with mixed tsukune skewers
The Sapporo draft beer 🍺 arrived ice-cold — the foam was smooth and the finish refreshing, like the beer swept away the richness of the ramen broth in one go! It also goes great with the tsukune, so if you're visiting in the evening, I'd recommend ordering draft beer alongside your meal.

For a side dish, I ordered the mixed tsukune (chicken meatball skewers). They come as round chicken meatballs, and the portion was generous. There's a mix topped with cheese and sauce, and another with green onion 😋 The tsukune itself is very soft and moist.

The inside is moist yet light, and as you chew, savory juices come through. The cheese-topped tsukune has an extra layer of richness, while the green onion one is fresh and fragrant — great to alternate with between bites of ramen.

Is Oreno Ramen Gangnam worth it for Japanese ramen near Gangnam Station?
If you're hunting for a great restaurant near Gangnam Station or a Michelin-listed Japanese ramen spot in Gangnam, I recommend Oreno Ramen Gangnam ✨🙌🏻 I'm sure I'll be back the next time I'm craving ramen in Gangnam :)
