Day drinking raw shrimp and rockfish set in Guwol-dong: Veteran Fish

Today, after a long while, I met up with a friend for some day drinking, and we headed to a raw fish restaurant in Guwol-dong! We didn't meet at the Guwol-dong Rodeo area, but near Incheon City Hall instead! We went to "Veteran General Fish Market," a great-value restaurant with multiple branches. At the Incheon City Hall branch of Veteran General Fish Market, we tried the raw shrimp and sashimi that are in season right now — let's take a look together~~

Where is Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch, and what is the patio like?

The Incheon City Hall branch of Veteran General Fish Market is easy to reach from either Incheon City Hall Station or Art Center Station! Located on the Incheon City Hall dining street, right before you reach Korea National Open University, the restaurant occupies a large first-floor space and also has patio seating, so it's not hard to spot~~

On one side of the first floor there's a fish tank, plus outdoor tables set up for patio seating! In weather like this, using the patio seats would be really nice!

The restaurant was very spacious and clean! Plenty of tables too — it looks like there's more than enough seating for a group visit.

What's on the seasonal menu: live squid and half-and-half sets

Live squid seems to be in season right now too — dishes made with live squid, or the assorted sashimi platter curated by the manager, are popular menu items!

Or if you love seafood, there's a seafood set too! We wanted sashimi, so we went with the half-and-half — the raw shrimp & sashimi half-and-half set! For a small extra charge, you can choose the type of sashimi.

Side dishes and the self-serve kimchi pancake bar

They set the basic table spread for us! Salad, corn, ssamjang, vegetables and other basics are provided, and if you need more, you can use the self-serve bar in the back! Next to the self-serve bar, there's also a station where you can grill your own kimchi pancake.

Before the sashimi came out, we also got a whole grilled saury — seems like that's included in the basic table setting.

The main dish arrived! We ordered the 'small' size and they prepared it half-and-half. When you order raw shrimp, they grill the heads in butter for you.

So nutty and delicious — a top-tier drinking snack! The sauce served alongside seemed to be a chipotle-style sauce.

Seafood ramyeon to finish the drinks

My friend said we needed some carbs, so she ordered seafood ramyeon. It had as many as three shrimp in it, plus various seafood and bean sprouts — great for an instant hangover cure while drinking.

Is Veteran General Fish Market worth it for day drinking?

With everything set up, we dug into our drinks properly! The fall raw shrimp was sweet and delicious, and the sashimi we chose in rockfish was overall really high quality.

The table had been piled with food, but it was so tasty that dishes started disappearing one by one before we knew it. When I eat sashimi, I like to drink Jinro soju, and that day I think I got pleasantly tipsy after about three bottles! With varied banchan and fresh seafood, it was a really satisfying day drinking session! And the price wasn't too steep either — a great-value raw fish restaurant, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch! I should come back for another drink on the patio before fall ends~
