Cheongju rice cake café for chocolate injeolmi: Tteokmama
In short
Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch is a café-style rice cake shop in Gaesin-dong, Cheongju, Chungbuk. I looked over chocolate injeolmi and fruit mochi rice cakes, plus return-gift, 100-day celebration, and first-birthday rice cake options. A lovely stop for family snacks and gift-ready rice cakes.

When holidays, weddings, or first-birthday parties roll around and there is suddenly so much to arrange, return gifts are always such a dilemma, right? When you look for something that is neither too common nor too burdensome, rice cakes naturally come to mind. I happened to have a chance to visit Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch on the main road in Gaesin-dong, Cheongju, so I’m leaving my review today.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it is a designated pregnancy-friendly business! Wow.... Knowing it is a shop that is considerate toward pregnant customers made me trust it even more, you know...?
Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch is on Bokdae-ro in Seowon-gu, Cheongju. It sits on a wide main road and has floor-to-ceiling glass windows, so it was easy to spot even from a distance. There is parking in the building as well as curbside parking, so visiting by car was no trouble. It is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., which is another plus—you can stop by comfortably from early morning until late evening.
A café-like atmosphere unlike a typical rice cake shop

The interior is what surprises you first when you enter. Rather than the traditional rice cake shop you might expect, it is styled like a polished café, so it put me in a good mood from the moment I arrived. The spacious shop has plenty of wooden tables and seats, so you can do more than take things to go—you can sit down and enjoy rice cakes and a drink right there. It felt like an easy, no-pressure spot for a snack between taking children to and from lessons, or for a meal substitute at an awkward in-between time.
A wide range of drinks as well as rice cakes

Another appeal of Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch is that it does not sell rice cakes alone. There are plenty of drinks to choose from according to your taste, including coffee, sikhye (sweet rice punch), smoothies, ades, juice, and tea. Sweet rice cakes and a cold Americano go surprisingly well together, and it felt refreshingly novel to enjoy that combination at a rice cake shop.
From Cheongju 100-day and first-birthday sets to return gifts

If you are looking for 100-day celebration or first-birthday rice cake sets in Cheongju, this is a place worth noting. There is such a fun variety to choose from: basics such as baekseolgi (steamed white rice cake), glutinous rice cakes, and injeolmi (coated pounded rice cake), as well as jeolpyeon (sliced rice cake), chapssaltteok (glutinous rice cake), yakbap (sweet rice), and barley rice cakes.

The jeolpyeon in particular came in pretty, colorful shades and was offered as a set with jocheong (rice syrup), which made it great for dipping. There have been so many times when I wanted to dip rice cake in jocheong but felt it was too much because the bottle was so big; I loved that they sell exactly the amount you need like this.

The chocolate injeolmi I picked! I really loved that there were so many rice cakes that were not just ordinary rice cakes, but reflected current tastes and trends!!!

The fruit-topped mochi rice cakes were impressive too.

At specialty shops, they are often over ₩5,000 each, but here I could enjoy them at a much more reasonable price. The rice cake, fresh fruit, and sweet bean paste worked beautifully together, so they looked equally fitting as children’s snacks or desserts for adults.
Custom Cheongju event rice cakes and return-gift wrapping
This is also a good place for anyone who needs custom event rice cakes in Cheongju. You can place custom orders for 100-day celebration rice cakes, first-birthday rice cakes, and event rice cakes, as well as rice cake cakes, ibaji rice cakes, and holiday gift sets. They are also taking advance reservations for the upcoming Chuseok holiday gift sets, so if you are considering gifts for parents or elders, it may be worth getting organized early.

The packaging was also very clean and tidy. It preserved that thoughtful feeling unique to return-gift rice cakes without being overdone, so I thought it was just right for conveying sincerity without making anyone feel burdened. The packaging supplies used for group orders also looked premium, which made them more than satisfying for gifts.
I’m happily taking home the rice cakes I bought, all wrapped up~~ I was so excited to get home and eat them with the kids!!!!

Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch was more than simply a place to buy rice cakes: it was somewhere to sit comfortably for a snack and take care of return gifts or holiday presents all at once. They also said frozen rice cakes retain their just-made taste once thawed, which makes them practical to pull out and eat whenever needed. If you are considering return-gift rice cakes, 100-day or first-birthday sets, or custom event rice cakes in Cheongju, I recommend visiting Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch. I hope you will stop by with the whole family, enjoy rice cakes and drinks, and have fun choosing together!
