Yeosu café baguette burgers near Yi Sun-sin Square: Jwasuyeong

I ended up taking a sudden trip to Yeosu and spotted Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger (좌수영바게트버거) while wandering around Yi Sun-sin Square. When I think of Yeosu, romantic pocha tent bars or soy-marinated crab come to mind first, but you can’t leave out a light snack to eat while traveling, either.

To give you the conclusion first: the Jwasuyeong baguette burger, Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort ice cream, and Jwasuyeong thick macarons were all seriously delicious.ᐟ.ᐟ.ᐟ No lie, if I go back to Yeosu, I want to eat that baguette burger again.

Near Yi Sun-sin Square, so it fits easily into a trip itinerary

If you are planning a Yeosu itinerary and looking around Yi Sun-sin Square, this is an easy place to add to your route. There is a Jinnamgwan Public Parking Lot directly across the street, which made visiting by car convenient too. Parking is free for the first hour, then ₩200 per 10 minutes, so it did not feel too burdensome.

The exterior looked more compact than I expected, but once inside, there were quite a few tables, including window seats.

It had a nice atmosphere for sitting down, eating, and taking a little break during a trip.

The signature Jwasuyeong baguette burger

Since I had come all this way, of course I had to try the signature menu. I ordered the Jwasuyeong baguette burger.

It costs ₩6,000 on its own, and there are also set menus with coffee. The baguette looks firm and crisp on the outside, while the inside is hollowed out and packed with meat and vegetables.

At first, I thought it would just be meat inside a baguette, but one bite changed my mind a little. It was crisp outside and moist inside. The meat and vegetables worked better together than I expected, and perhaps because of the cabbage, there was a subtle sweetness too. Above all, the baguette texture was so good. “Crisp outside, tender inside” fits it perfectly.

If I had to pick one snack I ate in Yeosu that I think will stay in my mind, I would choose the Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger. You really have to try this one.ᐟ.ᐟ

What does the Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort ice cream taste like?

After eating the baguette burger, I spotted the sea-breeze mugwort ice cream right beside it and got curious, so I tried that too. Its green color was quite deep, so I thought the mugwort aroma might be strong, but it was softer than expected.

Rather than being the type where mugwort hits you right away, it leaves a gentle mugwort note behind the sweet, creamy ice cream flavor.

If you like mugwort, it is worth trying at least once, and I think even people who find very strong mugwort flavors intimidating could eat it comfortably. It would be perfect to pick one up on a hot day while traveling.

Colorful Jwasuyeong thick macarons

The thick macarons caught my eye too, since there were so many varieties. The selection I saw was strawberry milk, real sea-breeze mugwort, sea-breeze mugwort latte, sea-breeze mugwort chocolate chip, and cookies and cream.

Their colorful look made them seem nice to pack as a travel snack or gift. In particular, there were several flavors using sea-breeze mugwort, making them a fun choice if you are looking for a dessert you can only try in Yeosu.

After trying all three, the baguette burger was still number one for me. The thick macarons were tasty and the ice cream was nice too, but for some reason, the baguette burger was what I thought about most after getting home.

A light snack stop for a Yeosu trip

Takeout is available, and alongside baguette burgers, the shop sells sea-breeze mugwort ice cream and thick macarons. It is a good place to stop when you are hungry after looking around Yi Sun-sin Square and Jinnamgwan on a Yeosu itinerary.

I happened upon this place during this Yeosu trip, but I was more satisfied than expected. The baguette burger paired crisp bread with moist fillings beautifully; the sea-breeze mugwort ice cream had a gentle, unburdensome mugwort aroma; and the thick macarons were fun for their colorful look and range of flavors. It was an unexpectedly delicious find on this Yeosu itinerary. If you go to Yeosu, you really have to try Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger. I genuinely want it again.ᐟ 🥖🤍
