Outdoor dome café in Yuseong, Daejeon: Luonto chimney bread

A large café after a Sutonggol drive

The weather has been so nice lately that I took a little drive out to Sutonggol🌿 Sutonggol makes me think of its valley, and there are so many lovely cafés around it too. This time, I visited Luonto Sutonggol Branch (루온토 수통골점), a large café in Sutonggol😊

It is quite a large café, with both indoor and outdoor spaces, so it was a great place to relax over a cup of coffee! Above all, Luonto is famous for its chimney bread, and I was determined to have some this time too... but sadly, it was sold out on the day I visited🥲 So I’ll save the chimney bread for next time and tried an iced Americano, peach iced tea, and Sangha Farm ice cream instead!

With parking in the building and a spacious outdoor lot, this is one of those cafés in Daejeon where you can go without worrying about parking! Head farther into Sutonggol and you will spot Luonto’s noticeably large building.

Rather than a typical little café, it immediately felt like a full-scale large café! Since the weather was nice, we did not stay inside the whole time and came outside to take photos too📸 One thing I have always liked about Luonto whenever I visit is how well its outdoor space is set up, not just the interior!

Blending in with Sutonggol’s natural scenery, it looked like a nice spot to enjoy coffee outdoors on a fine day! Luonto especially has dome-shaped outdoor spaces, which gives it a slightly different feel from an ordinary café. On a day with weather like this, it is fun to have your coffee, step outside, take photos, and look around instead of staying indoors!

It also seems like the kind of place where it would be wonderful to bring a book outside and read in the autumn breeze! So if you are looking for an outdoor-dome café in Yuseong-gu around Sutonggol, I think it would be worth stopping by!

Spacious interior and varied seating

Once inside, the café was even more spacious than I expected! Luonto is a large café spread over several floors, and it had lots of different seating options!

We ordered on the first floor and looked around the café, and because the space is so large, it felt less cramped even with some people there! The variety of seating was another plus—window seats on the first, second, and third floors, as well as tables for groups. It seems like a nice place to visit with family or friends after coming out to Sutonggol!

The signature chimney bread was sold out

Luonto’s signature menu is chimney bread, baked fresh to order!

Luonto is quite famous for its chimney bread, and I had come before and enjoyed it so much that I planned to eat some and take some home this time too..... But the chimney bread was sold out...🥲🥲 I only found out after arriving, so that was a little disappointingㅠ Still, I decided to think of it as one more reason to come back again😂

Especially if you are visiting specifically for the chimney bread, I think it would be best to come a little early, since it can sell out like it did for me! It is known as a chimney-bread spot in Yuseong-gu, so next time I absolutely need to come early and succeed!!

I was sad there was no chimney bread, but since it was a hot day, we decided to have cold drinks and ice cream instead... First up: Sangha Farm ice cream!

The ice cream was almost gone too, and ours was the last order! It was a clean-tasting ice cream with a smooth, rich milk flavor! After looking around the café in the heat, it was just perfect to have it cold🤍 Since it was sweet, it also went really well with the iced Americano. I could not have the chimney bread this time, but next time I need to come back for chimney bread + ice cream, haha.

The iced Americano was crisp and refreshing, and when you stay at a café for a while, I find myself reaching for an Americano more often than a sweet drink☕️ The peach iced tea was sweet and cold, so it seems like a good order for anyone who does not really drink coffee! Especially in summer, it would be nice to take a cold iced drink and stroll around the outdoor area!

Taking photos outdoors

Since we had come all the way to Luonto, we took a few photos outdoors too!

Rather than just having coffee inside and leaving, coming out and looking around the surrounding areas really made it feel like we had properly visited a large café! I think you could get some lovely photos on a nice day! There is also a fountain outside, which makes everything look even more refreshing, and the green trees make a nice backdrop for a photo! There is even a spot to take mirror photos off to the side, so it would be great for friends, couples, or families to snap a picture together!

Small events and group visits

Luonto can also host events such as small weddings and first-birthday parties! There is a separate event space beside it, and the first floor of the neighboring building is a restaurant, so it seems like it would be nice to have a meal and then coffee—or to hold a small event!

It looked as though small outdoor weddings are held here too, so anyone interested should ask them about it! Luonto has space up to the third floor, but there was a group on the third floor when I visited. I thought it might disturb the other guests, so I did not take separate photos there! From what I remember from my earlier visit, the third floor was also spacious and had large tables for groups, so it looked suitable for group use!

We settled in on the second floor, where there were lots of table options; if you visit as a group, it seems like you could push tables together. There were seats where you could eat while looking out at the view, as well as comfortable sofa-like seating, so you can choose whatever suits your taste!

Luonto is nice to visit for the café itself, but it also seems like a good stop while you are out for a drive or excursion in Sutonggol! Since it is a large café, you can just pop in for coffee, or sit back and spend time chatting at leisure!

Especially on a nice day, I think you can enjoy it even more fully by using the outdoor space as well as the interior! The biggest disappointment of this Luonto visit was not getting to eat the chimney bread🥲 I think it was even more disappointing because I remembered how warm and delicious it was beforeㅠ Still, we relaxed at the café with Sangha Farm ice cream, an iced Americano, peach iced tea, and cookies! If you are looking for a café in Sutonggol, Luonto seems like a good option when you want more than somewhere just to drink coffee—you can take photos and explore the outdoor space too! On my next visit, I absolutely!! will have the chimney bread😆🤎 Next time, I will try coming a little earlier before it sells out!!
