Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch is famous as a Korean BBQ spot near Sangil-dong Station. My husband had already been with friends, and our neighborhood friends kept recommending it too, so we went for a Friday family dinner — here's the review.

Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch: hours and how to get there

Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch is open Mon–Fri 16:00–23:00 and weekends/holidays 15:30–23:00, with last order at 21:00. The address is unit 132, 1st floor, Megasquare building, 399 Godeok-ro, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea, about a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Sangil-dong Station on subway Line 5.

You can see it right away from the Godeok Central Prugio commercial building. The sidewalks are well maintained even for stroller access, so our family with baby Sogeum walked over with the stroller, like a little outing.

Parking, reservations and how long you wait

Parking is in the building's basement lot, and they register free parking at checkout after your meal. Reservations are possible, but only during weekdays 17:00–19:00 and weekends 16:00–18:00 — outside those hours, you may need to wait if it's full.

There were people waiting when we arrived, so I took this photo on the way out and it had already turned into night. The exterior lighting and floor-to-ceiling glass give a pleasant impression even from outside, and there's a separate waiting area so you can wait comfortably.

The wood-tone and black interior blend together for a neat, upscale BBQ restaurant feel. There's none of the usual greasy, sticky feel of a barbecue place — it's kept really clean!

₩5,000 off for writing a Naver review, and waiting customers get a free drink after 15 minutes and free alcohol after 30 minutes. Since it's a popular spot, there can be a wait during peak hours, but the thoughtful care for waiting customers really stands out.

Side dishes and sauces served with the meat

The basic side dish spread was mustard leaf pickle, wild garlic (myeong-i namul), white kimchi, dressed lettuce salad, bracken fern, and fresh wrap vegetables. The four sauces were wasabi, salted hairtail intestines, pink salt, and a special soy sauce blend.

My husband, who's not usually into vegetables, gave the dressed cabbage salad and wild garlic his stamp of approval. The side dish lineup and combinations were totally my style.

The complimentary steamed egg was such a hit that our 4-year-old scraped the bowl clean.

Can you see how juicy and tender the meat looks?

Because the meat is aged, there's zero gamey smell and it's really moist inside. It's soft rather than dry, so even our 4-year-old, who struggles with tough meat, kept asking for refills.

So many ways to enjoy it. A light dip in pink salt to taste the meat's own flavor, or the wild garlic plus wasabi combo.

Would we come back to Geumdon Hwaro?

This was only the second time in our baby Sogeum's four years of life that the three of us went to a BBQ restaurant alone. It's genuinely not easy to go out for Korean BBQ with just a baby and no other family around — but here, premium aged Korean pork grilled entirely over charcoal by the staff made it work.

Beyond how good the meat tastes, the set menus and dessert options are all really well put together, and they even have a baby chair, baby tableware and cup ready to go. I think this is going to become our go-to spot for meat outings from now on!
