Gwangalli lunch-date café, two shared pastas: Working Holiday Millak

In short

Working Holiday Millak is a brunch café with Gwangan Bridge ocean views on the 7th floor of the Badamaru building in Suyeong-gu, Busan. On a lunch date, the writer and her boyfriend ordered one pomodoro pasta (18,000 won) and one clam and shrimp oil pasta (19,000 won) and shared both: the pomodoro led with bright tomato acidity, while the oil pasta leaned on garlic and seafood umami. For a proper sit-down meal by the sea in Gwangalli, Working Holiday Millak is an easy recommendation.

Where to eat well with a sea view in Gwangalli

On a lunch date with my boyfriend, I was looking for somewhere relaxed to eat near Gwangalli and ended up at Working Holiday Millak.

Working Holiday Millak is a Gwangalli brunch café near the beach and Millak Waterside Park, with an ocean-view space overlooking the sea and Gwangan Bridge, where you can enjoy everything from brunch to pizza and pasta.

I went in thinking it would just be a café with a nice view, but after actually eating there my satisfaction with the food itself was pretty high, so this time I want to focus the review more on the food than the atmosphere.

In particular, the menu ranges widely from Neapolitan pizza made daily with dough they ferment themselves, to sourdough sandwiches and pasta, so it seemed like a good spot to share several dishes on a date rather than stick to just one. We ordered pasta for lunch that day :)

Working Holiday Millak: location and parking

Working Holiday Millak is located at 29 Millak Suybeon-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan, on the 7th floor of Badamaru. It's the very last building on Millak Raw Fish Center street, so it's easier to find if you use Sujeonggung as a reference point and look for the building at the far right end.

Once you go up to the 7th floor, you're met with a space overlooking Gwangalli beach and Gwangan Bridge, so the location itself is quite appealing for anyone who wants an ocean view along with their meal!

Parking is available in the underground lot behind the Badamaru building, and if you spend over ₩10,000 you get one hour of parking support, up to a maximum of 4 hours a day — worth knowing if you're driving.

The 7th-floor room looking out at Gwangan Bridge

Stepping into the store on the 7th floor of Working Holiday Millak, the open space and the sweeping sea view were the first thing that made me think this was a well-chosen spot for a lunch date.

There are plenty of places around Gwangalli where you can eat with a sea view, but Working Holiday Millak's higher floor lets you look down over the water, which felt open and never cramped — I really liked that.

On a clear day, the sea view through the windows would probably make the whole meal feel even better.

The interior overall was pretty clean, and besides table seating there's group seating and a terrace, so it seemed like a good fit for everything from couple dates to family or friend gatherings.

On top of that, there's Wi-Fi, separate men's and women's restrooms, group seating is possible, and you can get parking support — overall the convenience factor was pretty solid when looking for a place to eat in Gwangalli.

If you're visiting as a couple, ordering one pizza and one pasta to share seemed like a good combo. We considered pizza too, but since we wanted to focus more on lunch, we ended up each ordering a pasta :)

How is the pomodoro pasta (18,000 won)?

First, the Pomodoro Pasta is the most classic style built on a tomato-based sauce. The tomato flavor came through more distinctly in person than it looked in photos.

Pomodoro pasta with tomato sauce evenly coating the noodles

There's a distinct tangy tomato flavor with a subtle sweetness, and the sauce coated the noodles evenly, so it went down clean from the first bite. It's not heavy or greasy like a cream pasta, so it wasn't too much for lunch and was easy to eat slowly on a date.

In particular, the tomato sauce wasn't overly sharp, so it didn't get tiring even after eating a lot of noodles, and when you ate the sauce and pasta together, the tomato's acidity and umami flowed naturally — it felt like a solid, well-executed classic!

If you like tomato pasta but find overly heavy or sharp flavors too much, this would probably suit your taste well.

Clam and shrimp oil pasta, 19,000 won

As the name suggests, the Clam Shrimp Oil Pasta comes with both clams and shrimp, so it's a dish that would look inviting from the visuals alone to anyone who likes seafood :) I'm a shrimp fanatic and oil pasta is my favorite, so this was pretty much perfect for my taste.. 💖

It had the clean flavor typical of oil pasta, with garlic aroma added, and the seafood umami from the clams and shrimp blended in naturally.

Oil pasta topped with clams and shrimp

The shrimp especially kept a springy texture, so eating it with the noodles gave a varied bite, and the clams gave off a subtle seafood flavor with every chew.

Personally, I sometimes find oil pasta a bit disappointing when only the oil flavor comes through strongly, but this dish had seafood and garlic aroma rising together, so I could enjoy it right to the last bite.

Why ordering both pastas works for two people

While the Pomodoro centers on the bright, fresh flavor of tomato, the Clam Shrimp Oil Pasta centers on the umami of garlic and seafood.

Ordering both together made the difference in direction really clear, which made it fun for my boyfriend and me to swap bites.

Personally, if I had to pick just one, I'd lean toward the Clam Shrimp Oil Pasta since I like seafood!

Is Working Holiday Millak worth it for a Gwangalli brunch?

Working Holiday Millak was a place where you could enjoy an ocean view of Gwangan Bridge together with brunch, pizza and pasta. The Pomodoro Pasta was clean and classic, with tomato's characteristic acidity and a gentle sweetness, while the Clam Shrimp Oil Pasta, with its springy shrimp and umami-rich clams plus garlic aroma, suited me especially well as someone who likes seafood.

The menu itself is varied too — not just pizza and pasta but sandwiches, brunch and desserts — so it's a plus that you can choose according to the time of day, from morning to evening.

Above all, being able to eat leisurely while looking out at Gwangalli's sea and Gwangan Bridge makes it a great fit for a lunch date with your partner. If you're visiting as a couple like we did, I'd recommend ordering a pizza and a pasta to share, and if you like seafood, the Clam Shrimp Oil Pasta is worth trying at least once.

If you're looking for a place in Gwangalli that isn't just pretty for photos but lets you have a proper meal with a sea view, I'd recommend Working Holiday Millak. Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
