Daegu Korean restaurant with private rooms and a second pork cutlet
In short
Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch is a Korean restaurant near Moda Outlet in Dalseo, Daegu, serving cheonggukjang (pungent fermented soybean stew) and seafood ttukbaegi (stone-pot stew). After reserving ahead, the writer ate seafood chive pancake, live abalone cheonggukjang seafood stew, medium seafood jjim (braised spicy seafood) and old-style pork cutlet, and the pork cutlet was good enough to order a second one. With dividers at every table, private rooms, solo seats and baby chairs, Sin Yeongung makes an easy choice for anything from group gatherings to meals with toddlers.

I visited Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi (신영웅청국장해물뚝배기), a great spot near Moda Outlet in Daegu. It has rooms and group seating, so it's perfect if you want a comfortable meal. Let me introduce it! ^__^
Location and parking at Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch
The Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch (신영웅청국장해물뚝배기 성서모다아울렛점) is at 27 Seongseogongdan-ro 15-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, and is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00. There is a parking lot.

You can park right in front of the building, but there's also a large lot behind it, so it's easy to get to.

It's right next to Moda Outlet, so it's ideal for a shop-then-eat day. It has even appeared on MBN's Lee Seung-yoon's <Great Gourmet Journey> (위대한 미식기행)!

Does Sin Yeongung have rooms and solo seats?
The dining hall is quite big, and every table has a divider. That makes it easy to chat comfortably while you eat, a thoughtful touch.

There are also seats in one corner for people dining alone, so it's great if you're looking for a solo-friendly restaurant in Seongseo.

The restaurant is also known for group gatherings and big family meals in Seongseo, and because it has private rooms, many people recommend it for get-togethers and company dinners.

Looking around the shop, there's a story about the meaning behind the restaurant's name, and I got so absorbed reading it!

Self-serve bar, kiosk ordering and signature dishes
The self-serve bar was stocked with side dishes you can help yourself to, and unlike at most restaurants, each side dish had its own description, which impressed me.

You order at a kiosk. Signature dishes include live abalone cheonggukjang seafood stew, cheonggukjang seafood stew, oyster stew, stone-pot bibimbap (mixed rice), brisket soft tofu stew and cockle bibimbap, among many others.

There was also a notice posted in the restaurant.
While eating, you may occasionally find a piece of crab fishing line or a cockle shell fragment. Even though we clean everything thoroughly, some pieces may not be fully removed, so we kindly ask for your understanding.

What side dishes come out if you reserve?
I reserved ahead, so the basic side dishes were ready quickly. We got kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), salad, jangjorim (soy-braised beef) and stir-fried fish cakes. None were harsh or heavily seasoned, so they were nice for whetting the appetite before the meal.

Baby chairs and baby tableware are available too, so people visiting with toddlers can eat without any trouble~

Seafood chive pancake ₩13,000

The seafood chive pancake (haemul buchu pajeon) came out fast, right after we ordered. It was crispy outside and soft inside, and the bits of seafood you bite into along the way add a refreshing flavor, which was its charm.

Live abalone + cheonggukjang seafood stew ₩22,000: is the smell strong?
The signature live abalone cheonggukjang seafood stew is overwhelming from the first look. Obviously fresh abalone sits on top of the furiously boiling broth, and the nutty, earthy aroma is the real deal.

With the first sip of broth, my whole body melted, and it felt like a proper health boost. The cheonggukjang smell isn't strong, so even people who normally can't eat cheonggukjang could enjoy it.

The seafood stew had crab, shrimp, abalone and more, and the freshness came through, making me think once again, yes, this is a great place near Moda Outlet in Daegu.

Seafood jjim (medium) ₩49,000
The medium seafood jjim (steamed spicy seafood) also surprised me with its generous portion. I liked how scallops were arranged on both sides of the dish. The plump octopus was cut into bite-size pieces by the staff, so all we had to do was eat.
The tender, chewy octopus and the rich gonie (fish roe) were soaked through with seasoning, making this a total rice thief (so good you keep eating more rice).

There was also the fun of picking through scallops and mussels, and the crunchy bean sprouts are the key point of the seafood jjim! It was so good I wanted to order extra.

Old-style pork cutlet ₩11,000: is it okay for kids?
The old-style pork cutlet (donkatsu), generously drizzled with sweet sauce, was the best kind of dish for kids, and it won over the adults too, so we ordered one more^^

After the meal, finish with something sweet and cold at the coffee corner~ If you're looking for a good restaurant near Moda Outlet in Daegu, I recommend Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi.
