Daegu restaurant near Moda Outlet: seafood boil, milt and hidden pasta
In short
Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch is a cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and seafood ttukbaegi (stone-pot stew) restaurant on Seongseogongdan-ro in Dalseo, Daegu. On a weekday evening, the writer and their parents shared the medium seafood boil (₩49,000) with 3 bowls of rice, and the spicy, salty sauce, loaded with octopus, squid, scallops, blue crab, milt and pollock roe, stood out. The pasta hidden at the bottom of the seafood boil went a little soggy because it was found late, but for the portion size Sin Yeongung is good value for a family dinner.

Why take your parents to Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi near Moda Outlet?
Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch (신영웅청국장해물뚝배기 성서모다아울렛점) is a Korean restaurant in Seongseo, Dalseo, Daegu, known for piling seafood up like a mountain. I love seafood dishes full of the smell of the sea, so I always keep an eye out for hearty, health-boosting Korean places around Daegu, and this time I tried this spot, famous among Seongseo restaurants for its seafood portions.

It was a weekday evening, and I finally had a dinner with my parents after a long time, to treat them to something restorative. Spicy, plump seafood seemed just right, so I set off happily without hesitation.
It's at 27 Seongseogongdan-ro 15-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, on the 1st floor of a building. Being near Moda Outlet, it's a great stop if you're out shopping, and it has a friendly neighborhood-eatery mood.

What are the atmosphere and the self-serve side dish corner like?
The interior is wood-toned, with a partition at every table, so it's nice for a quiet family meal. The moment I stepped inside, it felt much roomier and tidier than I'd expected. It's furnished mostly with warm wooden furniture, and the partitions separate the spaces, so I could chat privately with my parents.

On one side there's a self-serve side dish corner where you can freely take neat seasoned greens, fresh lettuce, cubed radish kimchi and pickles without feeling awkward. It was kept clean, and I really liked it.
Opening hours and break time
They're open generously every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a break from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Last order is at 9:20 p.m., so keep that in mind.

What are the menu and prices at Sin Yeongung?
The signature cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi (stone-pot stew) is ₩17,000, and the version with live abalone added is ₩22,000. I sat down and looked over the big menu for prices; everything from cheonggukjang to fusion seafood dishes was a varied mix of Korean food and seafood.
- Cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi ₩17,000 (most popular)
- Live abalone cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi ₩22,000
- Seafood soft tofu stew, Beolgyo cockle bibimbap: ₩12,000 range
- Brisket soft tofu ttukbaegi ₩12,000
- Old-style pork cutlet ₩11,000 (a hit with kids)
- Seafood and chive pancake around ₩13,000
- Medium seafood boil ₩49,000
The three of us vowed to stuff ourselves with the fire-grilled-style sauce, so we ordered the signature fusion dish, the medium seafood boil (₩49,000), and added 3 bowls of rice right away.
How was the medium seafood boil, and is it enough for three?
The medium seafood boil arrives in a huge iron-plate bowl with scallops, mussels, octopus and squid heaped on top. After a short wait, the seafood came out to the center of our table, giving off the smell of red, fiery sauce.

As soon as it arrived, the fresh shellfish like scallops and mussels, gaping open, made my eyes sparkle, and the big octopus and squid perched on top looked great. A veteran ajumma (older woman) came over and snipped the whole squid and octopus into bite-size pieces with scissors, and I could feel the tender, not-at-all-chewy texture at the tips of the scissors.

The taste of the sauce with pollock roe and fish milt
The seafood boil is generously mixed with nutty gogni (fish milt) and myeongran (salted pollock roe), which made the signature sauce deeper and creamier, and the plump shrimp, crab and fries were soaked through with sauce.

I bit into the crab and shrimp that had sucked up the sauce, and a spicy yet subtly salty savoriness filled my mouth. My parents kept moving their spoons and couldn't stop praising it.
The downside: pasta hidden at the bottom
The downside of the seafood boil is that it's so generous that I found the plump pasta spread at the bottom too late. I noticed there were noodles underneath way too late.

If I'd known from the start that the noodles were hidden underneath, I'd have fished them out before they got soggy. I only found them when I was about to mix in rice, so I ended up eating slightly soggy noodles, which was a bummer. If you go, pull out the noodles first.

Still, compared with seafood boil prices at other places, I couldn't think of many spots that load on the quantity as overwhelmingly as Sin Yeongung, and the owner's warm generosity stood out.

Who I'd recommend it to
- When you want to treat someone to a generous, restorative meal near Dalseo, Daegu
- Families out near Moda Outlet in Seongseo for a weekend meal who want a filling dinner in a comfortable space separated by partitions
- People who want to try an unusual seafood jjim (steamed seafood) with tender cooked octopus and squid, pollock roe and nutty fish milt tossed in a spicy sauce
- People who want to park easily and treat their parents, with neat self-serve side dishes included

Where do you park?
Behind Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch there's a very spacious public parking lot with a daily maximum of ₩2,000, so I stayed without any parking stress. I quietly dropped by for a good-value dinner with my parents after a long time and went home well restored; the salty depth of the seafood boil sauce is really unique.
Next time the family heads to Moda Outlet for summer clothes, I'll try the spicy live abalone cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi combo. (Based on a 2026 visit)
