Daegu Dong-gu café brunch with a child: Hands Coffee

I visited Hands Coffee Dongchon Recreation Area branch (핸즈커피 동촌유원지점) with my 3-year-old on a weekend morning. It was already a café I liked, and I went this time because I heard they had started serving brunch.

Is there seating suitable for a child?

The space was large and had plenty of seats, so it was easy to choose a place with a child. Even when we visited, quite a few families had come with young children.

There were many tables, and the back had an area where we could sit on the floor. Seating is something I think about when visiting a café with a child, so having options made me feel comfortable.

From the window side, we could see toward Dongchon Recreation Area, making it a pleasant place to spend time over brunch.

Although it was a weekend visit, it did not feel uncomfortably packed when I went. There was enough room in the seating area for us to eat a little more slowly with our child.

How was the brunch with a child?

This time, we had brunch with coffee. Of the dishes we ate, the mushroom cream rigatoni was the most memorable.

The cream sauce was rich, with a clear mushroom aroma. The sauce clung well to the rigatoni, making me keep reaching for more, and my 3-year-old ate it happily too.

My child said, “Give me more of the one that looks like gimbap,” and ate nearly half of the rigatoni. It was a dish that suited our family’s tastes.

The brunch plate came with vegetables, egg, sausage, and bread. The generous portions made it good for sharing between two people.

What coffee goes well with brunch?

One of my favorite items at Hands Coffee is European-style cappuccino. This time too, I spent the weekend morning having coffee with brunch.

How were the outdoor space and stroller access?

Besides the floor seating, there was also a fairly large outdoor area. It can be difficult to keep a child seated the whole time, so having a space like this was convenient from a parent’s perspective.

The aisles inside the café were also wide, so entering with a stroller did not feel difficult.

Where did we walk after brunch?

After brunch, we rested for a while and then went straight toward Dongchon Recreation Area. The Tree Walk that had been under construction was now in place, so we continued our outing with a walk.

It was good for walking and also fine for my child to run around. Adding a walk after eating and resting at the café made it easy to spend half a weekend day.

My child ran around excitedly and fell asleep as soon as we got in the car.

How was parking on the weekend?

The spacious parking lot was another convenience. Parking can be a concern around Dongchon Recreation Area when there are many cars on weekends, but this place had plenty of space.

When we visited, parking was not something we had to worry much about.

Why would I like to visit again with my child?

I liked that there was brunch we could eat with a child, along with plenty of seating and parking space. The mushroom cream rigatoni especially was something my child ate well, so I think I will remember it next time too.

Next time, I would like to combine brunch with a walk at Dongchon Recreation Area again.
